Nice try dude, but I'm going by your endorsement of PhotoFactor's statements. We all know about the business based windows PC usage world wide over.proof? get real, dude.....the entire government of USA, and Europe, just about every corporation in the US and the rest of the world! i am surprised you are asking for "proof"!Proof? I posted mine, where's yours???indeed. what you have expressed is more realistic at this time! M$' bread and butter comes from the worldwide big and small businesses, not "joe" the consumer!
Completely and utterly agree 100 percent... which is why I also said this.....An absolutely excellent post EE-TV, which applies for millions of users, who don't necessarily know the difference between, lets say a processor or a resistor![]()

i do not dispute that but my point was that that M$ makes a huge bulk of its money off of corporations and Governments around the world, not just the little personal OS to the little consumers, in fact, we all know that M$ gave us windows10 for free and didn't even blink! so, this subject isn't even worth arguing about because it is banal!Nice try dude, but I'm going by your endorsement of PhotoFactor's statements. And BTW, most of the employees in "the entire government of USA, and Europe, just about every corporation in the US and the rest of the world" also have home systems running Windows based operating systems, so ;-)
Yeah, because Microsoft also gave their other operating systems away for free as well /swe all know that M$ gave us windows10 for free and didn't even blink! so, this subject isn't even worth arguing about because it is banal!
Oh I agree. But Apple got to #1 due to their quality focus from the late 90's through the innovation of the iphone, a time when Microsoft cemented their downward spiral from a consumer perspective.I’ve been an active user of both Windows and Macs in my personal life since 2011 plus an iOS user since the second generation iPhone. I can honestly say that within the last 3-4 years Apple has done more backwards/regressive things to my user experiences and impressions than Microsoft. Am I just a “sample of one?" You betcha. But the tech world is far from being wine and roses on the Apple front.Apple has focused on user experience and service, and that doesn't mean going into myriad settings to tweak everything to remove ads and make the OS more usable.
whatever you say, champ!Yeah, because Microsoft also gave their other operating systems away for free as well /swe all know that M$ gave us windows10 for free and didn't even blink! so, this subject isn't even worth arguing about because it is banal!
And all of a sudden, we conveniently forget Windows 7 (not free) was (until 10 took over) the most widely use Windows operating system. That it alone dwarfed Mac OS users.
Anyway, while I get you, I fail to see what that has to do with the overall argument that "Mac OS has a larger user base than Windows as stated by PhotoFactor. Regardless of how we feel Windows got there.
Lastly, perhaps you should point your "banal" finger at PhotoFactor for bringing up the subject instead of endorsing it.
That's not what I stated. I said Microsoft lost their huge monopoly in the consumer market and I was referring to all computing.Yeah, because Microsoft also gave their other operating systems away for free as well /swe all know that M$ gave us windows10 for free and didn't even blink! so, this subject isn't even worth arguing about because it is banal!

Apple is a sect, users do not care what Apple does to them. It's likely that Apple will fall
It's a store app.Thanks!
Oddly enough, I already had the update and I didn't do anything to get it. And nothing shows in Windows Update history.
Your point being store apps get updated automatically? It's a store app. Thanks!

If so, I didn't realize any Microsoft Store apps you've got installed automatically get updated. I don't download many app from the store.

Thanks, as I said, I don't use the app store a lot, but I have seen those settings before. Anyway I wasn't aware apps in the store will auto update apps installed by the OS. That's that Snip & Sketch was automatically installed during the 1809 update, yet it gets auto updated through the app store. Didn't realize that. Dont need to use MS Account, works with local account too.Another reason to use a Microsoft Account with Windows 10 ;-)

According what I heard, and this article - Should you use a local or a Microsoft account in Windows 10? …. "The most obvious benefits of using a Microsoft account include the ability to download, install and restore modern UWP apps from the Windows Store." I'm thinking that would also apply to auto updates as well, but...
And Snip and Sketch is considered a UWP app according to this article - Simple questions: What are Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps? ….. "Last but not least, the best information is found in the Additional information section. There look for the list of supported processors. You should see listed ARM processors (processors for mobile devices, mostly smartphones) alongside x86 and x64 processors (processors for PCs)."
That if you go to the store and look at the properties page of the app, it does support ARM processors.
That said, with my limited knowledge in this area and the fact that I've never used a local account, I'm not about to argue the point
Movin' on![]()
All up to date with second SSD in the drive bay replacing the optical drive.Well, I don't read all these posts thoroughly either but I said I bought a new, used laptop for my wife. This is it. You are right, it was a pretty nice machine, when it was new, and it is a pretty nice machine now.LOL!! Good one!
Looks like that's a Latitude E5430; here's a review:

Sounds like it was a pretty nice machine, when it was new.
In 2012.
Anyway, if you want Windows 7 that badly, I do hope it works for you. I had a Latitude at work years ago, and it was a well-built machine.
I also said I was replacing my ancient Dell D531 with a computer exactly like the one above. Now. I certainly didn't want Windows 7 badly, I just wanted to replace an occasionally used old computer with an inexpensive new used one. And I wanted a replacement that wasn't always getting major updates. My desktop, updated to 1809 quickly and with nothing but the usual problem of having to reinstall the license number of Virtual CD 10. At first glance, nothing has changed.
All these posts are entertaining reading.
