If u do find a US supplier who would ship overseas, need to watch for:
1, many quote US prices are before local taxes (US) can be anything up to 40%

2, if u do manage to get it shipped and sold at net price, then good old UK may well charge u import duty, and this is more than 17.5%
Oh and this can often be collected directly by the courier such as DHL.

HTH

ps CAPS are deemed shouting on the net, and are also hard to read.

David Davies - Back uo post by KB, did the homework with a Hong Kong site, Insurance, postage, tax, charge by carrier to collect tax, up to four weeks wait and possible problems if damaged. Would only have saved £50 on a £300 camera. Yes, capital letters are considered shouting, so Kathy I will not put following sentence in capitals. Hi

Sorry for shouting!! I Thanks for the info, I had considered getting my sister-in-law who lives near Hilton Head, to send me the camera as a gift, to try and get around the taxes etc that way, I think my main concern was that perhaps the lady at Kodak was wrong when she said that they perhaps had an adaptor that would allow me to use the dock in the UK, and if I bought the camera from the U.S.A. that there might be other differences that I was unaware of, this was one of the reasons I asked if Damien might know of these, his knowledge seems very vast! But I take your point perhaps patience is a virtue!!! Thanks again.

then there is also the problem of returns, which David mentioned.
I buy here on the net, but at least where I know I can return it.

Re the dock, I expect it depends where the transformer is, if it is in the plug part, then maybe a UK one could be used instead, but if it is in the dock and does not support 110-240v then u r stuffed as far as I can see.

also there is a power in port on tha camera, so again depends on whether the plug is the transformer or the camera has it inbuilt.

Thanks, I think it looks like I will have to wait till they eventually arrive in this country,I have seen so many people from the U.S.A. selling cameras on Ebay/uk. I just presumed that I could just buy one and have no problems, obviously not!

cheers

Kathy,

You can transfer files from your memory card to your computer by using a card reader, instead of the camera dock. And, you can recharge your camera battery by using a battery charger.

Actually, I would have preferred that they bundle these instead of the dock.

Kodak li-ion rapid battery charger kit

The Kodak li-ion rapid battery charger kit is a convenient way to charge your Kodak EasyShare li-ion rechargeable battery at home or on the road. Recharge your battery in three hours or less with this lightweight and compact battery charger. Charger kit comes with six worldwide plugs ranging from 110-240 volts. Please note: batteries are sold separately.

scroll on down and you will see the SD Card Readers, and multi-card readers.

Hope this helps,
Lilla

Hi Kathy, know exactly how you feel, once you've made that decision to treat yourself or to buy something new you just want to get your hands on it don't you, and I'm not a woman, at least last time I looked!

I would agree with others here that the risks of buying anything online from a foreign country perhaps are not worth it.

Only DX6490 shipped in the US will come with the dock. Elsewhere they'll be shipped with the Li-ion battery and charger. downloading si simple through the supplied USB cable. The dock makes it even more convenient see large thread posted by me some time ago, 'everything you need to know about docks'.

As for shipping in October, I think you'll find one earlier than that, at least that's what i had heard. This sounds like a safe estimate based on country wide distribution. Try Dixons and Jessops on a regular basis, they can get the product to their stores very quickly. Of course there are other retailers too you can try, these just sit at the front of my early morning mind.

hope that helps.

Hi Damien

thanks for your reply, I live in a part of England where things seem to get to us last(typical)!! in the county of Lincolnshire, I think maybe the suppliers think we haven't moved on from Box cameras up here(ha ha). I went in to Currys and Dixons yesterday and they tell me they have never heard of the camera and they have no way of telling me when its going to be in this country I also got told this by Kodak UK. Never mind as I said in my last e-mail I will have to be patient, I just wish I hadn't sold my LS443 so soon, I had gone by the dates on different websites as to when the camera would be in.Thanks again for the info

best regards

Hi Kathy,

It looks as if it is has finally reached the UK ... have a look at http://www.jessops.com where it looks as if they have stock available at present in their warehouse.

The price, as expected is £399.90 which does NOT include the dock. You might even be able to find one at your local branch, but do let us know how you get on.

Regards,

Hi thanks for letting me know, our local Jessops store is 1 and a half hours away and guesss what they havent got them in yet they are still awaiting delivery!! Was a little suprised at the price considering how much they are in Europe which is 450 euros(£312). Its quite a bit of difference, and in the U.S.A. you get the dock with it for well under what they are charging in the UK. I want to look at all the ultra zooms and have a play before I make my final choice, Kodak is still favourite at the minute.

kind regards
Kathy
