Hello,

Does anyone have any info about how the xt3 is comparing to the sony a73 ?

I don't talk about full frame vs apsc, only based on results. Which one is the best to have the best shots in most situations?

Up to now, I think Sony is more adequate for professional work, commercial shooting and so on. Where Fuji can also be used for commercial but aiming more at artitic work and portrait.

What do you think?

Cheers

What people need to realise about these cameras is that they are very different to every other camera around, for one you don't have a pasm dial and the x-trams sensor is very very different to std bayer. What are you aiming for?

Ignoring the sensor size issue (and the effect of that really depends on the lenses you use), I'd have thought it would look like this:

Fuji Pros:

- Lighter and smaller

- Cheaper

- Better EVF

- Better weathersealing

- Faster FPS for action shooting

- A few other features like intervalvometer, precapture, focus stacking etc.

- X trans if you like X trans

- Fuji control scheme if you like the Fuji control scheme

- Fuji colours if you like Fuji colours

Sony Pros:

- Bigger battery

- IBIS

- Bayer sensor if you like bayer

- Custom settings

Unknown:

- AF and general performance

" in most situations"

Either camera will do a good job, depending on the skill of the photographer. What do you want to shoot? What will you do with the images? Do you print or instagram? Do you print really large? Do you shoot in low light? Do you need to track fast moving subjects? Do you need good weather resistance? What lenses do you plan on using? Do you need to carry a range of equipment on your back to remote locations?

For specialized work, you might want something completely different, e.g. DSLR, medium format, tilt & shift lenses, etc.

That's not an easy comparison as they're vastly different. A7III if ultimate image quality is your goal, you can hardly beat that sensor. But you'll pay much more for it and it's lenses. XT3 if still excellent image quality along with less bulk and cost is your goal.

I can garantee that the Fuji can be used for baby photography, Portraits, sports and action, architecture, real estate, vacations, landscapes and macro. Those i have done personally! :-D

I also have proof that it can do weddings, commercial, underwater (with housing), astro and aerial photography. At least in other people's hands ;-)

And yes, some times the outcome is artistic.

The above would apply to all cameras, with different level of requirements and expectations.

To resume, now more seriously, they both can do everything.

I use both Fuji and Sony. I think it is all about who is behind the camera...

The Fuji is usually good enough for most people...there are a number of people here who used to use Sony and now use Fuji and vice versa. It's really a very personal choice.

Some of the lenses for Sony are a little too big, heavy, and expensive for my taste, but I can say that about a couple of Fuji lenses too.

I do believe AF is better in the Sony and of course it has IBIS and a larger sensor which the X-T3 does not.

For Fuji :
  • Ergonomics (Control scheme above?)
For Sony:
  • 1 stop of noise advantage
Very close to each other in terms of specs

Question is what's important to you ?

Also consider the whole system, and just bodies

Can you find the lenses you need for your own shooting? are they small/light/affordable per your taste?

Cheers,
