Looks like the camera has a new sensor from what i understood in the keynote.X-type devices, with a bit more horsepower under the hood plus bigger model, plus that entry level phone with bigger screen. We‘ll see in a few hours for sure, but I don‘t expect this year to see many photography related improvements.
Yep, a bigger one. They advertise 1.4um pixels (from 1.22um last year) and still 12MP, so about 1/2.6” (from 1/3” since iphone 5s)Looks like the camera has a new sensor from what i understood in the keynote.X-type devices, with a bit more horsepower under the hood plus bigger model, plus that entry level phone with bigger screen. It would be a first for Apple to release larger than 6" devices and with dual SIM. It will be a e-SIM/NanoSIM like the new iPadsDunno, but I have the feeling that they won’t bring much new, if anything, as far as photography is concerned.
Finally a larger sensor from Apple. I had actually given up on that. I wonder if Apple now has a wider focal length for the lens in order to keep it slim. It doesn't look like the telephoto camera has changed.Yep, a bigger one. The new changeable bokeh is pretty interesting.
I saw that Godox now has an iPhone flash system. Combine that with the bokeh and you've got pro level results on the phone. Pretty impressive.
New larger sensor means new lens too. I was a little disappointed by the lack of IQ improvement from 6s to X (I mean, except for the ”50mm” lens, there was very little that cannot be done by auto correction in the photo app), so I decided to wait for the Xs. For now, it sounds good, but I am waiting for the review. The whole presentation felt a bit messy, not to speak about the reviews of the same.
I felt a bit like when Canon, or other manufacturers, are saying that the sensor is brand new, withou ever going into the details or giving clear examples
(I only used Canon as an example, since that’s the brand I am using)
Personally, I’ll stick with the X, until next generation at least and is more interested what the coming IOS/OS updates will bring

I found some further details on how the HDR works. I am looking forward to the reviews.Yep, a bigger one. Not to me Sir. I send the X back and keep on using my 6s. So now I'm waiting on the Xs to see if we click.I found the upgrade from 6s to X more than worthwhile.I was a little disappointed by the lack of IQ improvement from 6s to X (I mean, except for the ”50mm” lens, there was very little that cannot be done by auto correction in the photo app), so I decided to wait for the Xs. And I don’t think the the new ones will disappoint.
(after you used the X for a while, the 6s feels and looks very archaic )

iPhone users will have noticed a tag on photos that says "HDR" —it means High Dynamic Range, a process where, when you press the shutter button, the phone captures several frames simultaneously, then merges elements from each one into a single image (a good shadow from one, skin texture from another). The new Smart HDR captures four frames, plus four more in between those frames at a different exposure. The iPhone will also take a separate long-exposure to grab bright color elements.
I don't believe the Pixel's image gathering involves taking different exposures.Sounds like a fancy way to say that they have mastered a similar technique to how the pixel and pixel 2. Look forward to seeing some real life sample comparisons.I found some further details on how the HDR works. I am looking forward to the reviews.Yep, a bigger one. Well in all honesty not much really, the X is an amazing phone. The On/off button, the little thing (easel) in the top and the screen isn't as wide as the one in the 6s.What was it you didn’t like about it?No> Fog Maker wrote:
