EF lenses adapted to a Panasonic DC-G9 camera

I have a few Canon EF lenses, especially my EF 85mm f/1/8, which I really like.
Would this 85mm f1/8 lens work (autofocus, cont autofocus, aperture control) on my G9, with this Metabones adapter?

There is no info on their website ...

Or would another brand adapter work with af? I'm not really into video ...

Many thanks for some info.

Jozef.

Yes, should do. I use many Canon EF lenses on many M4/3 bodies including the G9. I am off on a shoot for a theatre production promo today using a Sigma DC 50-100mm f1.8 EF mount on a Metabones Speed Booster and the G9 body. I am also taking a Sigma DC 18-35mm f1.8 EF mount on a Metabones Smart Adapter and a GX85 body...
Yes I'd be confident it would (unless something very odd was going on, as the G9 is a sort of GH5 variant) but read the long list of limitations on that page and remember to allow for the 2x crop.

BTW also do the maths for the (alas more expensive) Speed Boosters...

Both lenses were bought in EF mount specifically to use on my M4/3 mount bodies. These ones have never been used on a Canon EF body.

I don’t do video so I cannot help there. But I have been very happy adapting Canon EF lenses to M4/3 via Metabones for some years now - including such esoteric lenses as the 400/2.8 and 200/2.0.

Thanks Tom.

So there is no C-AF and presumably no face/eye rec. AF with the Smart Adapter on your GX85 camera with EF Lenses. But that GX85 camera is listed on the Metabones site as supported.
The G9 camera is not listed as supported, probably too new ...
Can you confirm that the G9 camera AF works the same as your GX85 camera with the Metabones Smart Adapter, with your lenses?

I'm not interested in the Speed Booster.

Your help is most appreciated.

So there is no C-AF
No effective C-AF - I have tried it but the lens will whizz and bang around so much that I quickly become concerned that it will damage itself. Buy setting the shutter to only actuate when “in focus” I managed to get some in-focus keepers in C-AF but it is something I would not persist with. Consequently there is no reliable C-AF.
and presumably no face/eye rec.
I thnk that this works as does tracking but confess that I rarely use either. I have M4/3 lenses and use variations and can get confused as to whether I have used it with adapted EF lenses - I will give it a try when I get a chance - I have two bodies presently loaded with my Sigmas. As far as I know <only> C-AF is rated as “not working” by Metabones.

I regularly use EF lenses adapted with Metabones EF-M4/3 adapters with GM series, GX7, GX85 and G9 and there is no difference in how they respond that I can detect.
I'm not interested in the Speed Booster.
The Smart Adapter and Speed Booster models use the same identical firmware and behave in exactly the same manner electronically. The only differeces are physical - inserted glass elements and a necessary shorter flange to flange length.
Your help is most appreciated.
