As a Sony User the XT3 makes me jealous of Fuji users for the first time

While I do think sony will replace the A6500 quite soon (A6500 is over a 2 years old and was simply A6300 with IBIS)

I always believed Fuji had the superior compact lenses (Sony compact lenses are awful) but sony had the superior specs/Tech and I thought it would be easier to move to FF but I realized I had no interests in FF after a while. The Fuji XT3 offer insane speed (20/30FPS with pretty much full AF Coverage area and dual UHS II Cards) for FF you gotta pay +4000$ to get this (A9) even then you wont get 4K60FPS 10BIT INternal like the Fuji plus lenses costs more in FF to get a high quality lens

If only that camera had IBIS I would have switched pretty much without thinking

I think if sony new A6XXX camera was not as good I would switch since Fuji offering is too good to let go imo. This is the first Fuji camera that seriously made me jealous of Fuji users.

Come and join the dark side, we got cookies 😉😉

If you are still happy and don't want to replace your camera yet, stay with what you have and see what both bring in the near future till you want or need to replace your camera.

If the X-T3 keeps lurking you, you should give it a try before jumping ship.

I'm sure X-H2 will fit your needs, especially the IBIS part :)

Heck H2 = XT3 without any extras+ IBIS = Best crop camera. I cant ask for any more stuff and would use it for a decade properly without complaining

Only reason I'm worried because the lenses I really want from Fuji doesn't have IS and I'm not sure if no ibis or IS is a good idea for night time shots without a tripod

Wait for two or three weeks until Sony announces its new APS-C camera. Supposedly it's not so much a replacement for the A6000 series but a whole new beast. I'm sure it'll have very nice specs.

But if you still lust after Fuji, then wait for the X-H2. It should pretty much be an X-T3 with IBIS.

Well it appears that thanks to its BSI sensor, the X-T3 has gotten cleaner high ISO compared to the X-T2. So there's that.

But IMHO since you're not sure whether image stabilisation is an asset or not, then you probably don't shoot in dark conditions often enough to really care about IBIS.

I will 100% look up for Fuji rumors etc about the H2

Imo Fuji compact F2 Lenses are too good. At sony land we got Nothing besides a shity 35mm that is not sharp at all and that's it. The 16mm and 20mm are not good (16mm is crap and 20m average at best and both at f2.8 not 2 and need to even stop them down more to get decent sharpness

Sony literally released 1 single lens for their crop cameras in the last 4 years it's insane. Rest of lenses are bulky FF lenses only. They want people to move to FF basically

if I didnt have sony lenses I would have switched in a heart beat.

Fuji did a good job. Imo reading all these previews/reviews of the XT3 is making it hard. Heck at sony land we only have one 35mm equivalent lens and it's not sharp wide open + bigger than Fuji lens while costing 2.5x the price

I am on the same boat as you, I am a a6300 user and considering switching to Fuji but I gotta say, you are being harsh on E-Mount APSC lenses. First of all I really like my 35mm f1.8 from Sony. You shouldn't forget the great Sigma lenses we can buy as well. I am simply in love with my Sigma 16mm F1.4

Fuji is limited to Fuji lenses and this is a big negative point for me. I have been reading how the improved autofocus doesn't translate in to great autofocus because of old lenses etc.

This I agree but new lenses are rumored. The big thing we are missing is a good zoom objective with f2.8 doesn't matter who produces it but I want to see a good zoom lens on Sony APSC.

Looking forward to the new Sony announcement. I realised with the release of A7III that I simply can't afford Full Frame cameras/lenses so it is going to be either a switch to Fuji (either XT3 or waiting for XH2) or the new Sony that is rumored to be a beast.

The sony 35mm is awful wide open even stopped down. Need to stop it down even further compared to Fuji lenses

Sigma lenses are great indeed but not compact like Fuji (the 16mm is massive) fuji already got a second 16mm coming soon and they got already 14mm+16mm primes. Fuji F2/F2.8 lenses are fast. The slower ones are the speedy ones f1.4 or so which I'm not interested at (expensive +not compact)

For me I'm at the same situation as you now yep

Waiting for sony reveal and unless it's a best then I'm either jumping to tx3 or h2. Canon and nikon clearly cares about FF only. Canon zoom lens was 1.5KG and 3K$

I want compact lenses that is fast enough (F2 and sharp is more than I need or 2.8 but gotta be sharp wide open at least)

Looks like there are a lot of people considering the same, safe to say Fujifilm did a great job with the XT3. This will be an exciting month for sure!

I'm fairly new to photography and did about 2 month's worth of research before making the plunge, and the Sony len's situation was the exact reason I went with Fuji. Fuji seems committed to APS-C whereas Sony did not and I didn't see myself going full-frame.

This is where I'm at; was about to pull the trigger on the a7III, but this really is a beautiful looking camera with some great features and so I was going to hold off for a review here and make a call then ... Now I'm hearing all kinds of things about the new a6XXX (a mini A9 etc.); so many great cameras coming out.

Well, other than Canikon's latest offerings ...

The XT3 looks awesome, but imo the lack of Sigma and Tamron support really hinders the system.

Hinders the system? Who would want Sigma or Tamron when Fujifilm glass is superior?

I understand the fame, but the reality is Sigma has been putting just as good if not better lenses out there...and so have other brands.

Then you have to consider how limited in range fuji is with their lenses (most of their top lenses are wide angle primes), and then we have the price. They are super expensive in comparison.

Errr no, the lack of 3rd party glass does not hinder the system. It doesn't because there's plenty of Fuji lenses providing a good coverage of the FOV spectrum, and with good quality at that.

But certainly I'd love to see Sigma Art lenses for the X system, as these have a good price/quality ratio.

I definitely agree that Fuji is expensive and a deterrent to consumers seeking value with regard to image output (Sigma and Tamron deliver well here). Fuji cameras/lenses have a style and build quality that drew me in, and won me over by being more fun to use. That was added value to me, but perhaps not to someone else.

It's of course expected that technical comparisons of new cameras are inevitable, especially on this site. Just wanted to post a reminder for anyone reading this thread in the future and fretting about what gear to get; virtually every new camera is capable of taking phenomenal photographs - don't stretch yourself financially and just pick the one that you'll want as your sidekick when capturing your own.

Yes, it does. It's less competition and higher prices and this is true for fuji and m43. Fuji has great lenses, but it's limited in options. If you want a general purpose lens you have the 18-55 or the 16-55. You want a wide angle for landscapes that is sharp wide you have 2 very expensive options = the 14mm f2.8 and the 16mm F1.4... Fuji is also lacking in the fast telephoto department with 1 lens.

I was interested in fuji at one point, I went to the website and downloaded the catalog of lenses... I found many similar lenses that cover the same ranges. And again, price.

You are very incorrect to say Fuji has a limited lens lineup. Please educate yourself.

So what lens do you want?

It's the most complete APS-C lineup by far.

And they're not expensive for it's quality.
