DSLRS

OVF is pointless. Its note even the picture you are taking.
that is why OVF doesn't excite me one bit ;-) i want to see what is in front of me in real time, not some imagery of it!
I don't understand the nuance of this exchange. The image in an OVF isn't the picture you are taking and you don't see what is in front of you in real time, only imagery of it?

I don't know about that, but I want to see what is happening now, and not what happened a few miliseconds ago.

OVF is poor mans mirrorless. Who wants to see a picture of something that actually isnt going to show up in the picture you take!?!??!

Ok, thanks. I thought I was going nuts for a second.

If canikon force you to ditch your dslr then u all will move to MILC or take up another hobby/job .simple as that.

the next 1dx will be Mirrorless and that will be the start of the end of DSLR
First off, how could they "force" me to switch? Will my mirrored camera bodies suddenly die if I don't? Will the many dozens of EF lenses types, plus the tens of thousands available for sale out there, suddenly disappear? Why would I have to give up photography as a hobby/career?

Also, please do show how much better IQ is (you know, for those with careers and all) the mirrorless cameras give over the mirrored models. Also, please show me all the "pros" that will suddenly dump their thousand$ of dollars of EF gear, to buy what's equivalent to a Prosumer model camera.

Oh, that's right.. you can't.

... how long do you think Canon will support the now obviously dying EF System?
For a long, long time. You think Canon is suddenly going to stop supporting the millions of Canon DSLR's out there, plus all the pros and companies that have spent tens of thousands of $$$ on EF gear? Think again.

Posts that proclaim the sky is falling (like this thread, ironically), make me laugh. The "DSLR Doom and Gloom Gang" has been saying that DSLR cameras are going to be dying or dissolve into just a memory, for many, many years now.

Now please, do move on. No need for useless speculation.

You mean before the mirror flipped up?

Oh DLSRs will be around. Film is still around, and vinyl records are still around. The proportion of MILC to DSLR will continue to grow significantly but the DSLRs will remain a great tool, although probably eventually niche.

You shouldn’t get emotional about it. DSLRs are yesterday’s technology (it can’t be compared to the switch from film to digital or anything like that). People will switch. Simple as that

Who's emotional? You take my laughter at the notion of what the OP said, to be emotionally charged? And since when is the amazing DR, live view, still more-than-adequate AF, body ergos, etc of today's DSLR cameras, "yesterday's tech"?

Thanks, I have now laughed twice today!

look, switching from SLR to DSLR (as name indicate) was a revolution in photography. just think: no more film, darkroom, no control as how the photo turned out, software assisted post processing, instantaneous review of shot taken (chimping), etc, ect. that we all know! difference between MLIC and DSLR: mirror and size (maybe). right at this moment, anyone that is interested in canon/nikon gear, own a DSLR (or multi DSLRs) and related lenses by the millions. so, you think that will change in few months or years? dude, you are crazy :-D

Canon has no interest whatsoever in you hoarding old stuff. They want to sell you new things. How fast the shift will take is about their next release. Because as soon as they get professionals fully onboard, goodbye EF
true, i hoard my "L" lenses because i enjoy using them and get satisfaction out of them. they are not like shoes and shirts that will last until the next shopping trip :-D

No sure what you guys are smoking or drinking? Canon just released (within the last 24 hours) two new EF telephone lenses, does that indicate the product is dead or dying?

Someone kill this entire thread as a junk post.

Are those for a wired telephone or a cellular telephone?

Definitely wired telephones otherwise the battery would go flat too fast. Take generator into field when using. Blasted spellchecker.
