I agree with Augustin Man. Thanks for posting.

Mine should be here soon.

Yes, I usually take photos with my Sharp J-SH04 phone, which has a decent camera, but it doesn't have optical zoom, so I think the P1000 will be a nice addition. I hope the P1000 image quality won't be a big step down.

So what kind of camera gear do you currently own and use? Or is that getting too personal? Most if not all members who post in this forum list their camera gear in their profile...

This camera is perfect for recording stalkers from a safe distance...

If I had to guess...you're a Canon user...

..The P1000 & Smartphone is a great combo for casual snappers.. :-D

..also the P1000 with it's 24-3000mm (efov) zoom has no direct competition..

..there's going to be buyers from all different brands backgrounds that's attracted to the P1000 camera..

..this is the reason why we are seeing the P1000 selling like hotcakes.. ;-)

..Cheers..

True...but Im interested in knowing what the "newcomers" are going to be doing with the camera...especially the ones who say they're going to post images/videos of people...

It's a good tool for spying...yes.......

..well, people will do what people will do..

..it's doesn't have to need a camera such as the P1000..

..really any classic long telescopes has been around already for some time now..

..one thing I can think of, is police doing surveillances possibly.. ;-)

..Cheers..

I am NOT a stalker! Am I saying I never get called a stalker? Of course not (to be honest it happens all the time), but I also get called a drunkard, an alcoholic, a weirdo, a freak, so I really don't think we should let other people decide what I am.

In France the on line retailers are still promising delivery this end of week for a new order ! so it looks they ordered more than they already sold. Nevert on Amazon.fr

That should settle that. :)
The video shows a lens hood that can be used at the entire focal range. It is rather shallow and won't help much at longer focal lengths.

Might be useful to pack a longer hood to be used only with the longer focal lengths. Perhaps one of the rubber kinds that can be rolled back.

It's a petal hood designed for full focal range without vignetting at max telephoto.

No, the petal hood is designed for the wide angle portion of the focal length so as not to produce vignetting and has less and less effect as you zoom to longer focal lengths. The camera can tolerate a much deeper hood at the long end allowing it to be more immune to stray side light. Of course this is optional for the user. Nikon supplies just one lens hood that doesn't vignette at the wide end, and has minimal effect at the long end. If you want to do anything more, you are on your own.
