Loving my A99II not impressed by A7rIII

But... Girlfriend B is constantly improving herself while everyone wonders if girlfriend A is in it for the long haul!! :-P:-D (proud of this comeback I am!)(even though I don't believe it myself)
But girlfriend B will take a lot less time to get ready. She has no need for a mirror! :-D :-P
Possibly, but then, you'll 'drop' girlfriend 'B' long before girlfriend 'A' and she'll end up costing you more in the long run. Too high maintenance....

Both will take all your money and time, and you will replace either of them in about 4 years.

Am I the only one who loves the LCD status screen on the top of the A99? I glance at this screen when I turn the camera on as a quick check about what state it is in. This is one of the things I miss on the A7 series.

My Sigma 24-105 has dark corners (especially at f4.0). It can be minimized but I still find it annoying. However, it is fantastic for video and I expect the a99ii is even better than the a99.

Yes yes, He speaks to me the same way. Keeps telling me I'm in a stable relationship and that he is there to assure me. But this young 'un is quite persuasive. She keeps reinventing herself and always displaying her assets for all to see. But girlfriend A keeps me in her house because of one amazing quality (the Zeiss 135 1.8) that B cannot (G) Master as yet. If ever she does... that's it! I'm moving house.

Most wide angle lenses have some vignetting wide open. The vignetting goes away when you zoom in a bit. That said the vignetting on my 24-105 is extremely low. I searched through photos taken at 24mm wide or nearly wide open and couldn't find any with vignetting. Here's a sample 24mm, f4.5.

Not knocking your preference as I also think the A99II is a heck of a camera but there isn't much in your post that reinforces your title. The only thing you mentioned that wouldn't be better with the A7rIII is the flip out screen. Otherwise, IQ with the A7rIII, 70-300 FE and FE 24-105 would likely be better in almost every way vs the A99II with the Tamron and Sigma lenses. Resonsiveness... not sure but I expect the A7rIII to be pretty responsive. Maybe you should add the many missing features to better articulate your thread title.
i have the a7r3 and it's great if you have native (over $2,000 Sony EF GM) lenses. i'm in my 3rd or 4th adapter (la-ea3). it won't auto-focus with my sony 70-400 g2 lens (with la-ea3 adapter). maybe it will with a la-ea4 or maybe i should just get an a99ii. focus speed is much better with the la-ea3 and alpha lenses compared to 3rd party lenses.

If you have the money it would be a good idea to buy an A99ii to use with that lens. The A99ii is a great camera with great IQ.

Today I am in Hawaii and have been reading all the hype about the new A7rIII. But then I went outside and fired off some shots with my A99II and the Sigma Art 24-105, and a couple with the Tamron 70-300mm. I realized how much I love the image quality and the many features missing on A7rII and III. Here are some examples (downsized to 3000 on the long side):

First with Sigma Art 24-105:

Now Tamron 70-300:

I love my flip out screen and the extra buttons I get with the A99, as well as the responsiveness, but best of all image quality even after cropping.

i switched from an a7r3 to an a99ii because of i like my a-mount lenses without using the la-ea3 adapter. it focuses much faster and is more balanced.

It just comes down to personal preference. Do not see much point in a post that basically comes down to saying my gear is better than yours, especially when the two cameras have very similar image quality. By the way I use the A7riii with the 100-400 FE lens. I can say I am very happy with the combination. I use to shoot with A77ii, also a very good camera.
