This is the weekly Show Your Snaps thread where we invite you to show your own snapshots or even choice pictures. I'll be sure to comment about your photos, if you choose to share.

When you are posting your own images please submit them as a reply to this post. Otherwise your pictures may be overlooked. You might also consider describing your pictures in the subject title. See my own photos for this week as a reply.

Remember it's all about the enjoyment of taking pictures regardless of what we have. We can learn from each other and it's fun to share too. Thanks everyone for your participation.

This is open to all camera systems and skill levels.

Thank you CD for hosting last week's Show Your Snaps. If anyone would like to do the same in the future, please let me know. Show Your Snaps belongs to everyone and I encourage full participation (including taking the lead) for those that may have some time. I'm busy like a lot of you, but I squeeze in time so we can have fun with all of this. :-)

When I'm not playing birds, I'm shooting my accordion....or is it the other way around?

A few weeks ago I saw a mud fight. I couldn't be shy about taking their pictures. It was too good to be true. I don't think I've ever seen people have so much fun with mud. :-)

Photo No. 1 - On the back....

Photo No. 2 - Now she is blocking the face.

Photo No. 3 - We need to get more mud.

Photo No. 4 - Here we go with the mud slinging.

Photo No. 5 - More mud is required.

Photo No. 6 - But first another toss....

Photo No. 7 - A giant piece of mud....

Photo No. 8 - And finally a little more before they dove into the water to wash off. I was glad I didn't waste time, for they didn't stay long fighting with the mud. It was fun while it lasted.

Now I really feel like I need a shower!!!! hahahahhahaha!!!! ;)

Thanks for the reply. Can you imagine how awful that must feel with the mud? It's no wonder they washed it off fast in the lake.

It's been a while since I've gotten close to a heron. I finally found one yesterday, but I had to walk carefully to not scare it off. It kept watching me.

Photo No. 1 - This is the heron without any cropping. I liked it because it was cloudy and I had diffused lighting. ISO800 is very acceptable with this older camera. The background is the reservoir.

Photo No. 2 - This is the same picture, but it is heavily cropped.

Hi cdmazoff,

Good captures, it's not easy when they're in active mode.

Hi Digirame,

Great set of photo's, I luv a bit of 'mud-slinging'. :-)

Hi Rocket13,

Love the action shots of the Heron, I like mine with chips and mushy peas. :-D

It doesn't feel like some of these photo's were two months ago. !!!

A 'Skipper', these look like moths with their thick bodies and small wings but are indeed butterflies. Nice, especially since it's handheld.

I've been trying the capture the Orion Nebula the last week or so. I don't have the equipment to do it justice (tracker and a telescope and stout tripod, and imaging plenty of time), but this is what I a can manage at 600mm f/6.3 and ISO 3200 (and lots of clean up of the image). It's made of 42 images shot in Live View. Focusing on it was a very touchy operation and I wish lenses would provide more rotation for focus to make manual focus less of a pain.
