The old 35+ yr old Canon FD lenses (300 F/2.8L and the 500 F/4.5L) on the basic old Sony A7. Everything here seems to be old, me included.

No Nikon anywhere near them, sorry about that ;-)

Hi mate your usual great stuff, you might be old the lens too, but you would never know.

Just back from testing out my "old" Konica Minolta 17-35 f2.8-4 on my A7 this morning and the results look promising, I will be posting them soon.

Regards.

Stephen.

Good one, I'll be looking forward to them Stephen. Post them when you can mate. Old gear is always good to use and see.

All the best.

Danny.

My wife disagrees when she sees me coming out of the shower :-)

Looks like I've stumbled into the geezer section of the crowd. And you're still doing the impossible!

Best to ya, mate.

Getting these kind of results with MF lenses is quite an accomplishment . I would like to know if you use any EF lenses with your A7 and how satisfied are you with the AF.

When I used to shoot in manual focus trying to emulate Danny's example, I used to attribute all my failures to EVF lag. Danny still continues to get fabulous shots with ancient EVFs.
He won't say, but I suspect that his secret weapon is an ancient, ragged NEX-7.

Awesome set Danny, I especially like the third one, the picture of the kingfisher. Cheers.

Thanks for that, appreciated.

I don't own any AF lenses, so can't comment on AF at all. Not something I know anything about to be honest.

All the best and thanks again.

Danny.

Thanks Dave and Steve. Heck we have been around a long time on DPR :-)

The NEX-7 is just a stunning camera, no doubt about it. Even the EVF on the Oly E-M10 is darn good and the E-M1. Can't say lag has ever been an issue, maybe it's just me that doesn't notice it really.

Using a slow frame rate burst helps with MF while tracking, a fast frame rate I have issues with. So keep it slow and it's easier.

All the best and thanks guy's.

Danny.
Danny, looks like we have a few of the same cameras.

You have an Oly E-M10? Me too.

Also. NEX-7, A7, and good old LX3. Any more?

Steve

I had the E-M10 mate, the shutter died and that's in the bin :-) The E-M1 shutter died and I ripped it out and it still works in electronic shutter. The NEX-7 just won't die Steve and that's the reason I decided on another Sony, enter the A7. They just seem to be better built than the Oly's. The next m4/3 will be a Panasonic.

All the best Steve and that NEX-7, it's a good one ;-)

Danny.
Thanks, Danny.

The only camera that ever died on me was a Fuji X10, three times for the same reason.

Lucky it was on extended warranty. The last time they must have put their best technician on it. Everything works properly, now. And even the battery doesn't discharge when I'm not using it. It lay in a drawer for 6 months, and the battery was still fully charged!
