Having a few compact cameras (Lumix FZ35, ZS15, ZS50, Sony RX100, and Sony a6000), I wonder why I feel the need for more camera stuff.

So my straight question is, what other camera should I concider buying in the price range of $300-$650 which may be of equal quality or even better to my above cameras, in the compact or miroless APS-C category? Any worthy brand name will do.

Thank you for helping a disturbed person

Nikon P900 for that 24mm to 2000mm zoom lol.

Sorry, forgot to add a crucial requirement for a sensor of 1” or an APS-C

thanks again

Not much in the price range you've given; for APS-C you'd need to stay with Sony unless you increase your budget to include new glass. For a bridge camera you might consider the Panasonic FZ1000.

Specifically a prime lens. If you only have the kit zoom for your A6000, you have no lenses that aren't zooms. You are missing a large and very entertaining aspect of photography if you've never worked with a prime. Even if you don't like it long term, it will give you a new experience and definitely teach you some things.

I would recommend a 35mm on your crop sensor Sony, or you could study the images you have taken with your zooms to find your favorite field of view.

Don't worry, you're not alone disturbed person. There are many like you out there. And I too fall into that madness. We get cameras after cameras, and continue to seek out new gear for a good price and value.

The main reason for this need of camera after camera is: our photography is not getting any better. And, our cameras don't create the look in photos that they see others getting.

Also, we are obsessed with camera gear. We rely on others to make recommendations decisions for us. We even worshit, and praise brands. And our decision is based soley on brand. And in most cases, we don't know what we really need, because we have no clue about photography or what is needed to get specific types of photos.

And last but not least, we are all about the image quality, or IQ. And that's the only justification we need to buy another. Sad thing is, once we get a new camera, we soon realize it's no different than what we already have. So the search continues, over and over again. And once we get a new one, we do it all over again and again. Much like making the same mistakes over and over again.

Thus, this is madness we live in.

So the five mates that had the “guts” to answer my difficult questio, one favors a Nikon P9000, another the Lumix FZ1000 and two suggested not to look for camera but for lenses. Thank you mates, you made my day. Much obliged.
