Challenge 182: the topic is "STARS"

All kinds of stars. The stars at night, football stars, Hollywood walk of fame, shooting stars, being starry eyed, stars and stripes, Star Wars, (see how I tied that in) you get the idea.

The Eligible Gallery: is for images captured with any camera, any brand, but during the Challenge period.

Dear Jim:

Here is what I think happened....when I got home last night, the computer had automatically re-booted...it has been trying to do this for a month, but I have been resisting so, win10 went ahead and did it on its own. (things like this make me crazy!)

My monitor settings were now 32brightness, 20contrast....settings that don't look anything like I would do....the blacks were splotchy, verging on red bands at times.

The cell phone images, however looked fine, (a little over saturated, but that's the retina thingy, but blacks held up); likewise on the laptop and the work computer pictures were fine(ish), not so on the upstairs photo/video working computer which, I think re-set the monitor.

I am back to, 25brightness, 100 contrast....and it seems okay again....damned if I know.

I know, I have to spring for a monitor calibrating tool....(sigh)

Gotta go back to work.

Best Wishes, Traveller

PS I may try to re-cut these images when I get time....I did lots of fiddling with them...hummm

Yes, Windows 10 can be a pain at times. But I normally let it update on my schedule, not their schedule. I just pick some free time around their release, check for updates, then reboot.

Anyway - I recall that one of their latest releases messed up my screen calibrations as well, so I had to re-calibrate. It only takes 10 min or so, but it did need to be redone.

Looks like a fun challenge. Since I've caught this one from the start maybe I can get some entries in. I always seem to peek in right around the end of the challenges lately. Now I have some time to plan a few ideas.

Hopefully I can get a couple in this time.

...on how easy it would be to work the topic into many types of images.

Let it fly....lol

I took my wife and her sister shopping today. Of course, we had to stop in the Christmas Store in a local town. Being in tourist country on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, it was huge with every conceivable variation of Christmas decoration.

The result - 3 in Eligible, 1 in Exhibition.

and

Feel free to guess which one was "shot to order".

Due to a "threatening" note from someone who had the CIC password, the password has been changed.

I have contacted (most of) the regulars via a private message here and the person who responds to the requests. If I missed you, please send me a pm.
