This morning I went out for my first 1Ds session. This camera and the 24-70 L are heavy and big. That must be good! :-) I like the fast focus, the jpg saved with the RAW, the vert/horiz grip and shutter release, the ability to crop alot, low noise. Still need to experiment more with WB. Not too impressed with the LCD postview. I think it will be mostly good for histograms. Did I mention it is big and heavy?

wow nice pics, screen output allways looks worse than printer ouput

24-70 heavy, hehe try the 100-400 with an X2 on it and a 1Ds, or a Bigma 50-500, 24-70 is lovely and light ;)

I have found the display image is pretty useless as well, only giving you an idea of framing, the histogram is wonderfully detailed and accurate (amuch better than the 10Ds) and a good guide to the pic, mine is on view (info) mode so it displays the histogram after each shot

Very nice shots.

What do you all mean that the image display is useless? What's wrong with it? Does the 1DS magnifiy the image for preview - like the 10D?

Can I ask you where I can get a photoshop action for nice image frames/borders like you have there.

Thank you.

No by default the 1Ds makes a tiny little picture which you cant magnify, but the magnified image on my 10D was useless anyway

When you say 'tiny', you mean the 2" image? I didn't know that the 1DS can't magnify the image during playback. Why was the magnified image on your 10D useless?

The 1Ds image can be maginified, it's the original 1D camera that does not have a maginifier on the LCD playback, not the 11 mp 1Ds.

Lexar,

I was about to save the action for you, but my "Save Actions" is grayed-out. How do I save a recorded action?

The 1Ds preview (I call it a postview, the only SLR that has a real preview is the Oly E-10/20) can be setup for zoom, but it has to be done as a Personal Function which requires a setup on the computer/camera link. Hassle, but once I do it I will be happier. The D60 LCD is 1.8" with 118K pixels and the 1Ds is 2.0" with 120K pixels. I think the D60 LCD is clearer myself.

Thanks Charles.

I didn't know that the LCD image was a disappointment in the 1Ds. Considering the 1Ds flagship status, I would figure every function would be top notch.

I'm not sure how to save the action. Do you remember where you got it? I downloaded one a few weeks ago and the frames are nice but too big. I'm looking one a little smaller and tighter to the image.

If you can figure it out please let me know. Thanks again.

Lexar,
I recorded it myself.
In Photoshop 7
Start recording.
Click the w/b foreground/background button on the main palette.
Increse the Canvas size a small amount to your taste. Black
Reverse foreground/background colors to b/w
Increase the Canvas size a small amount to your taste. White
Reverse the b/w again.
Increase the Canvas size a larger amount to your taste. Black
Stop recording.
Good luck!
