I have the choice between a C5050 and 750uz. Since I am a old SLR user I like to look through the viewfinder to see the shoot I will take. On my current Kodak DC290 I almost always used the optical viewfinder to make my shots ignoring the LCD.

I tested a 720 with EVF. Am I seeing the whole? Does it adjust to manual setting or is it only an electronic picture of my target?

In a prior post I ask for help in a chioce between the 5050 and 750. In a side by side the "+'s" outweigh the "-'s" for the 750. The EVF is the question. I am not used to that view and don't understand composition, contrast, etc with this viewfinder.

Thanks for the help.

The EVFs are just a very small LCD display, it is just like the big one on the back. In most cases you can do everything in the EVF that you can do on the big one on the back.

Now if you want that real 35mm camera feel go find an E-10 or 20.

Thanks Bill, I just can't afford the price of those great cameras. I do have another queston though. Can the 750 do pano shots? I have seen some photos on this site that are unbeliveable. Great. I can visualize the shots I can take. 750 or 5050 for pano?

You can take good panos with any of them with an exposure lock.
But the to answer you question yes you can on both cameras.

Here is how the pano works on the Oly cameras, it is neat and works very will.

With my C-40ZOOM I always use the LCD, which can be akward in bright sunlight. I like to compose the shot in the camera rather than during post-processing.

On the C-750 I find that the EVF gives me the same view, menus and all, as does the LCD. You can switch between the two. For me, the EVF gives me more reliable composition than did the viewfinder in the C-2500L, which is a true SLR.

The EVF is preferable in brightly lit situations.

One of the things that delayed my choice between the 5050 and 750 was the small LCD on the 750. I got the 750 and the only thing that I use the LCD for is to view my shots. I like the EVF better than the LCD for composition.
