D-100 and Infrared photos

How good is the D-100 for Infrared photos? Some cameras, such as the DiMage 7, are supposed to be quite good. But later versions of that camera (the 7i) supposedly had an IR filter or something added to the chip that decreased chip IR sensitivity and made IR photos much less interesting.

Does anyone know how good the D-100 is at this? If so, what is the best IR filter for lenses attached to the D-100? Thanks.

The chip in the D100 has sensitivity in the IR range. Do a search on this fourm as there is a lot of information concerning IR and the D100 and most of your questions will be better answered that way.

I've only got out a couple times and I'm still learning..

I recently purchased a Hoya R72 IR filter and was very pleased with the results i got from it on my 1st attempt at digital IR photography last weekend. I'll post some images when i have figured out how to do it.

I've got the H&H filter, and have done some shooting with the d100 but I've not gotten anything as nice as this. For some reason I feel like I get better images with Kodak's HIE film. Can't figure out what I'm doing differently. I probably need to put the filter on and do nothing but shoot with it for two weeks.

And on your site - the picture of the columbine made me homesick for my garden in my house in Maryland where I used to live. (I like the perspective you take on the flowers - you're another one who believes that point of view is where things start.) I had a dozen different plants. Didn't take pictures then. Now I wish I did, and can't find any good columbines here in New Jersey.
