Hi,

I want to learn as much as possible about VSDC Free Video Editor. Trying to find answers to the following is proving next to impossible, online, so I am hoping someone with thorough knowledge of VSDC Free Video Editor can help me:

1 Sync: Can I move the audio either left or right, by anything from 50 - 200 ms, (lip-sync tends to be about 100ms out!), in order to realign the audio back to the picture? (Avidemux has an excellent feature for doing this. Will VSDC do it in pretty much the same way?)

2 Screen Ratios: The most popular screen ratios are: 3:2 4:3 15:9 16:9 17:9 and 21:9 Can all of these ratios be set accurately?

3 Cropping: The most accurate cropping tools I have ever seen are to be found in the Avidemux video converter and Xmedia Recode video converter. I am hoping a similar procedure might be possible with VSDC Free Video Editor?

4 Burn to DVD: Can VSDC Free Video Editor burn 5 hours of Best Quality to a single layer disc?

Does the Top Men use text, rather than picture icons? Will the text allow long titles up to 50 character letters long to be typed in?

Youtube is pretty useless with their tutorials in the explaining how to operate VSDC Free Video Editor. We need step by step explanations how to do these things. Is there anyone with the patience to explain these questions to me, at this forum, please?

Regards

1) Yes, of course, you can move the audio fragment by dragging the layer precisely where you need to.

2) You can choose any of the standard resolution/ratio parameters including the above-mentioned, and you can also precisely change the width and the height manually if needed.

3) There is an auto and a custom crop option in a separate window - http://prntscr.com/kglmua

4) The Burn to DVD feature lacks the menu, so you might want to use an alternative solution for it.

Regarding the tutorials on YouTube, is there anything particular you don't like? There is also a section with text how-tos available on the website: http://www.videosoftdev.com/how-to-use-free-video-editor

Besides, there are more detailed tutorials made and published by YouTubers. For example, here is a series of VSDC tutorials by VidProMom:

Primarily, because you have to be VERY careful when you install it to avoid the spyware and adware that gets installed at the same time.

To be fair, VSDC, always allowed me to opt out of most of the CR@p ware. But the 'updates' came with suspicious, almost quarterly regularity, and I always suspected those "updates" were released merely to update the cr@pware, as the program 'changes' seemed too minor to warrant an update release.

That being said, it was a fairly good free video editor, but I found the cost ultimately too high for what I wanted to do.

Thank you Alessia for writing.

You reply is very informative to me. However, I need to be shown exactly how to work each of the features I outlined. I keep visiting a public library; downloading VSDC Free Video Editor and experimenting. To be honest, none of it is clear-cut obvious to me. Some of the functions, such as the Cropping page you illustrated, is devoid of much in the way of controls and I don't understand how I should be working it!

For Screen Ratios, will I find an actual button called "Ratios" to make these chosen settings?

Sync: Are you saying to physically drag or push the Audio track either left or right in order to align it with the picture? Should there not be some 'pulse' buttons to allow exact 50 ms installments of drag? It is a very exacting job and it must not be done in a hit and miss way!

DVD burner: Presumably it will burn Five Hours of best quality to a single layer disc(?) Terrible shame it does not include a Top Menu for labelling the disc content!

If you happen to know of a Free DVD Burner which can burn 5 hours; has a Text Top Menu, able to take titles up to 45 character letters long and will allow the video to play on a stand alone dvd player right up to the VERY LAST frame before moving on to the next video, (some dvd burners are mean and insist on cutting off from the video several seconds earlier than wanted, so you don't get the file 100% complete!) If you know of a DVD Burner which fits these criteria, please tell me about it? (The only one I know is the Freemake Video Converter but I would like to find an alternative.)

Many thanks for your help.

Regards

I also use VSDC to create a travelling movie from the still images, short video clips plus a lot of animated sub title pages & maps etc.

But might be different from you, I have all of the original sound tracks be removed and add in background music, so no accurate syn be required.

IIRC, when you create a project, there is a menu to setup the parameters of the video we are going to work on. I usually set the resolution, mute the original sound track etc from there.

When we insert a sound track, we actually can control where it should be on a very precise position on the property menu. We can type in the precise starting time etc.

Sorry, never try it because nowadays, even a D9 DVD be too small for my movie and I rather prefer to output the end product in a MP4 file or the like, and copy it onto an USN flash memory drive or external HDD.

Back in the old days, I use the cheapy Power Director which can burn DVD directly.

I never have those problem yet.

Forget where to download it first time but like what I always do, I'll just downloaded the software itself, scan it with antivirus software, then do installation has all non related option NO...

I also run those free software offline except for some very trustworth ones like FastStone.

Had upgraded a few times (usually I visit the web to check for update manually) so far, no spyware etc irregularity been detected yet.

As a piece of freeware, has features nearly the same as my US$100 PowerDirector, is very good to me.

As a member of VSDC team, I can assure you there is no malware, spyware, cr@apware, or whatsoever installed together with the program to your PC.

And as @alcelc mentioned, you should always download the program from the official website to be on the safe side - http://www.videosoftdev.com/free-video-editor

Feel free to contact the team via email on PM us on Facebook - we're pretty open to conversation.

Thank you for that Alessia_DV. It might be possible that the distribution channel for your product is tainted. But my experience was real.

I'm glad you have the faith in your product to defend it. For that reason alone, I will give VSDC another look.
