Olympus 12-100 and Lumix GX8

Hi all,

I´m new in the MFT area and recently got my hands on a used Lumix GX8. For hiking I plan to invest in a Olympus 12-100 mm 4 IS ED Pro lens.

Are there restriction in using the 12-100 on the GX8 body? Is the lens IS working properly and is it possible to update the lens firmware with the GX8?

The main limitation is that Dual IS isn't possible with an Olympus lens on a Panasonic body (and vice-versa), so you're limited to just optical stabilisation in the lens, the IBIS will be disabled.

Also the 'fn' button on the lens will not be recognised.

Those minor issues aside, the 12-100 is a truly superb lens.
I have GX85 and used it with 12-100. IS works well. No compatibility issue. GX85 is often considered to have a softer shutter than GX8 though, less prone to shutter shock. OTH, GX85 is only 16 mp instead of 20 mp.
