Sigma Prime Lens Vs. Fujinon

I am just curious, now that Sigma releases new ART prime lens to Sony E-mount. Just how good are those ART lens, better than Fuji's? Thank you.
Well, they're not really new, they're just new for Sony :P But Sigma's art lenses are generally very good. However many of Fuji's lenses are just as good and some I would say are even better. If we're just talking image quality that is.

Fuji's lenses are also superior in other ways, like the fact that they're made of metal(Sigma's art lenses are mostly made of plastic), they're generally lighter and several of them have OIS and weather sealing(two things few Sigma art lenses have, if any).

I have 4 Sigma Art lenses: 14-24 2.8, 24-70 f4,

24-35 2.8 and 25-105 f4.

They are all full-frame, heavy and quite amazing.

Probably weigh 2-3x Fuji counterparts.

Oh, Sigma USA furnishes the best customer service.

I had a problem with a Sigma camera.

Two days later I received a replacement.

Never, ever a hassle

Thank you. I am primarily a prime lens shooter, and I have to admit, I am very tempted. :-D
I'm exclusively a prime lens shooter and I'm not the least bit tempted. Sigma's art lenses aren't better than Fuji's best lenses and like I said they're also made of plastic and generally heavy. Personally I prefer metal and a lower weight :)

I have no idea because I have never owned an Art lens, but I did owned and used the previous older generation Sigma 85 1.4 on the Pentax K1 and I LOVED the len's output. Is just beautiful. The Art lens is supposed to be "improved" from the version I had so I'm sure it is just as good if not better.

I also owned the fuji 56mm and although it is an excellent lens, for some strange reason it wasn't my favorite, can't explain it, and I definitely would get a 85mm 1.4 on a FF over the fuji 56mm. There is just something magical (to me) about that FL.

How the output of those lenses look with Sony cameras that I really don't know.

Both are better than you need them to be.

I guess I have never experienced,full-frame camera before. So Sigma + Sony sounds like a very tempting option. Now that I looked at the size and weight of those lens, I decided to stay with Fuji.

I just took a quick look at some of those Sigma Arts for Sony and they did not appear to have aperture rings. To me that would be a deal breaker. I would never buy a third party lens for a Fuji that didn't have an aperture ring when I could get a Fujinon that had one.

My apologies to any Sigmas that may have aperture rings-- my survey was far from complete.

I owned and sold the Sigma 35 F1.4 Art for Nikon mount. It my fav lens. It’s very sharp and like the image it produces. That’s the reason I brought the Fuji 23 f1.4 when I got the XE2. Fuji 23 never come close to Sigma 35 f1.4. I think I will get the Nikon FF mirrorless eventually and will either get the Nikon new rumor 35f1.4 or wait the the Sigma port to Nikon Mirrorless mount. I will likely keep the XT2 with the 10-24, 18-55, 56 for travel.

You do know that most modern lenses DON'T have aperture rings, right? It's an old school system of changing the aperture taken from the analog era. Fuji are fairly unique in having them today.

What software do you edit your photos in? Just wondering if the inferior performance of the Fuji 23/1.4 compared to the Sigma 35/1.4 could actually be more of an X-trans processing issue than a lens issue :P

Those ART lenses are full frame lenses. Fuji lenses are dedicated APS-C lenses with small size. That alone make Fuji a winner. If you want full frame that different topic. It will be expensive.

If Sony had dedicated quality APS-C lenses (specially primes) I would have gone for A6300 which I liked more than Fuji cameras. A6500 is amazing with IBIS. It's the lenses made me choose Fuji.

X-transformer, Lightroom, affinity photo. Fuji 23f1.4 is a good lens and sharp wide open too. I just prefer the image from he sigma more.
