After going through and selling the Nikon D70s, D200, D300, D3300, D7000 and D750, I decided to make the D7100 my main camera, keeping a D7000 as a 2nd camera. I mostly shoot events for Youth. I have a 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6g DX lens, 70-200 f/2.8 lens, and I am getting the 24-70 f/2.8 in the mail tomorrow. I often must shoot in poor lighting, so what are some other good options you all recommend? I often carry my D7000 and D7100 at the same time each with a different lens on, so which lens is better suited for which body? Thanks!

35/1.8

What kind of shooting in low light? If you are shooting indoor sports an 85mm f/1.8 on DX is useful, for group shots a 24km f/1.8 and for general shooting the DX 35mm f/1.8 would serve you well.

Depends on what you wanna spend. For low light the 35 and 50mm 1.8s are cheap, sharp and fast. If you want to get spendy and don't mind bulk there are the Sigma Art 1.8 zooms. I have the 50-100 and it is a beast, but it is crazy sharp and essentially a bag full of primes from 50 to 100mm. Likely picking up the 18-35 1.8 pretty soon.

I personally couldn't tell enough diff between the 1.4 and the 1.8 primes to make it worth the premium.

f/1.8 primes in the focal lengths you need most.

Tokina 11-20mm f/2.8 for low light wide angle.

Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 and/or 50-100mm f/1.8.

Everyone seems to recommend primes. They don't work so well for me, because I need versatility. I need to be able to zoom in and out.

..another lens to consider, is the..

..Nikon 16-80mm f/2.8-4E lens..

..Cheers..

A beast similar to the 24-70 is the Nikon DX 17-55 2.8. Get it used in good condition.

I'd say you already have all you need with 24-70 and 70-200 f2.8.
Ideally for DX I'd get Sigma 50-100 f1.8 and 18-35 f1.8 and call it a day for a long, long days to come.
