Beautiful shots!

Sounds like a great 'mini-vacation' for you.

Looking through those photos was a great 'micro-vacation' for me, and I certainly needed one. So, thanks!

Howdy.

I believe to live in such a wonderful city, full of many photo opportunities must certainly be gratifying! Sometimes I wish I could visit just to take photos. My wife would kill me because I know my camera would always be in front of my eyes! Enjoy your pics!
My lovely wife and I recently celebrated our 14th wedding
anniversary. We wanted to celebrate by spending time doing
something we love. So she knew that I'd been rather busy lately and
just needed some time off and away from the routine. She surprised
me by telling me that she was going to take me someplace special.
She said to bring the camera, and that she was going to borrow
Shay's camera. I was a little skeptical about Shay lending his
camera out, but I figured... okay. We pulled up to Shay's place,
and both he and his wife hurriedly jumped into our car and said,
"Okay, start driving!" I followed their directions, with no idea
where we were going. A short while later, we were at the New York
Botanical Gardens in the Bronx. I had no idea how beautiful it
would be. What follows is just a brief selection out of some nearly
300 shots that I took that day. I hope you enjoy viewing these half
as much as I enjoyed taking them.

More will follow this in a related post.

Those flowers are especially nice. Really nice detail in the petals :-)

My only disappointment is, that with all that greenery, those killer statues and those outstanding building facades, no one took any IR shots :-(

And you call yourselves photographers ;-) ......baaahahahahahaha

Obviously, I'm kidding :-) Great stuff. It has motivated me to set up a trip to the newly renovated (closed since 1995) Conservatory of Flowers and the Strybing Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, in Golden Gate park :-)

I'll make sure I take at least a few IR's...lol

Thanks for sharing your outing and congrats, to you and your missus, on your 14 years of wedded bliss :-)

Steve

BTW, did your wife ever get to use Shay's camera? Or were you guys so busy clicking away that the wives didn't get their turns?

Everyone needs a breather once in a while. NO... more often than that these days. :-)

I'm glad to have contributed a little bit to your own.

I spent approximately 40% of the time holding her hand, and approximately 60% of the time holding the camera. I asked her if she was okay, she said Yes. And I just kept shooting. :-)

Hahahahahahahahah!!

Heheh... don't ask me why. But I've never taken a single IR shot yet. It's just an area I haven't explored. :-)

Heheh... actually, No. Shay and I kept our own cameras slung around our necks. Shay's wife brought her own little Fuji camera, and she studied what she wanted to upgrade to next. And my wife has no real interest in photography. She just likes the pretty roses, and that's good enough for her. :-)

I wish you and your wife many more together.

It takes a special lady to put up with photographers sometimes and a special guy to appreciate her putting up with it lol

Hahahahah... we're going to keep counting those years together. I like "Koala's" logo: My aim is to live forever. So far so good. :-)

If we can keep that attitude and goal together, then I guess we have a long future in store. :-)
