I am trying to begin photography, and looking for a camera since my birthday is in a few weeks. My budget is probably $1000. Still looking for the best quality possible. I will probably do mostly nature and sports related photos. What should I look for in a camera? Also, what are some good options?

Almost an impossible question to answer and most people will recommend whatever camera/lens they currently own. :-)

To be honest, it's pretty hard to buy a "bad" camera now days. Most are very good and a lot of their appeal depends on what features people want.

Most of the time a good lens is much more important than the brand or model camera.

If you go to the top of this page you'll see a heading titled "Buying Guides" and that's a great place to start looking for what might be best for you.

Good luck and if all else fails buy a Fuji :-D (only joking but I warned you people would recommend whatever brand they owned).

The best option I can think of is to read the answers you already have.

Is there a good reason why you have posted this exact question three times now, in two forums, despite having received plenty of replies?

I resubmitted it on this forum because I made the budget higher by $500, so I'm not sure if there are better cameras from under $500 to under $1000.

It would be better to continue in one of your original threads. I for one don't feel very motivated to make any more helpful contributions under the circumstances.

I have not been keeping up with prices on premium cameras. $1000 might get you within striking distance of a used Canon 7Dii. Not a camera I would ever consider, but then sports are not important to me. Different folks will have very different ideas on what is "best".
