That gives a better idea of the size of the Duomo than a shot over the rooftops at a distance. Thanks for posting, digitcallous!

Australia is seeing a growth in public murals. This one, of an aboriginal youth, in Newcastle, Australia, is near the site of an ancient corroboree ground where ceremonial gatherings and dances were performed until the early nineteenth century.

That's superbly done! I have not been to Australia, but I've read several books about the great country. I would love to see it, but I understand that it take a lot of traveling to cover such a vast continent.

Great Mural !

Somehow - my oversight - I associate Newcastle more with modern Australia, never having seen aboriginals in that area ( I mostly know the town of Broke, in Hunter Valley ), more in SA , Alice Springs; and mostly Tennant Creek.

I recall that Captain Cook, after repairing the Endeavour from it's reef damage, declared the people he met at present-day Cooktown were the most contented people he had ever known, with no need of his "Advanced" gifts ( the crew had thought themselves very charitable to have given some of the men european clothes, which the Aborigines had politely carried away some distance before discarding the clothes as useless encumberances.) Things went downhill from there. :-|

An absolutely classic case of neither group having the slightest clue what "made the other group 'tick' ".
