 ∏   "Is it ART?" Thread 5/4 - UNTIL IT GETS FULL   ∏ 

Some day I walked around my neighborhood taking pictures of old, abandoned and deteriorated house. For at least 20 years I have not seen anybody entering this building. It is very sad, because it was definitely great home for somebody hundred years ago.

This is just a half of house
This is just a half of house

Later when I processed pictures I found that these windows can be considered as art, especially the first one:

Art indeed, Vlad.

We recently visited Valencia, Spain. Before we went on the trip I found information about the Fallas Festival each March in Valencia. Briefly, districts from Valencia build whimsical sculptures, large and small, and parade them for the festival. At the end of the festival the sculptures are burnt in bonfires. For decades now they pick some of the best sculptures and, instead of burning them, display them at the Fallas Museum.

We decided to visit the museum on our trip. When we got there we were told that admission was free that day. According to online information normal admission would be 2 Euros, which is very inexpensive. Turned out this is the most delightful place to spend an hour or two. The sculptures are fanciful and many wonderfully constructed. There were pieces from 1940 to current to be found at the Fallas Museum.

Here's a few of them:

Yes - apparently there WERE posting problems - I mentioned what a fun but giddy ride it would be piloting this 'vessel' from that little cage on top --- and it's not here.

But now it is :-O

Redone.

Interesting photo !!

Interesting old house. Beautiful old "handmade" glass windows - the reflections in the individual window panes are each works of ART, as well as the "stained glass" edges.

What country?

What amazing sculptures - shouldn't be burned!!

Interesting that, over such a long span of time, they all look almost as if by the same Artist.

It was a great experience Erik - the weather was good - maybe a bit different
if it is choppy - five days was probably enough.

Yesterday my wife took me out to lunch at a pub further up the coast. As I enjoyed a plate of delicious local scampi in beer batter my thoughts turned to the men in boats that go out in all weathers to keep us supplied with the delicacies of the seas.

This wooden-hulled trawler, "Village Belle IV" was built in Tarbert, Scotland (hence the TT in the registration number) in 1970 and operates out of Portavogie, Co. Down - the easternmost settlement in Ireland.
