Photography is more often a failure than a success. I know I have about 100x more bad photos than good. But learning from those failures makes a big difference.

I put together a short video on my recent trip to Iceland and talked about 5 images that didn't work.

Thanks very much for sharing this! I enjoyed it very much. Kudos for the humility, the world could use a bit more of that :-)

Good video critique. Excitement in new and interesting locations with limited time is always a challenge. It can lead to missing the small things as you point out so well.

When clicked on this thread I thought I would see 5 pictures and some text

But instead I feel like I'm being offered click bate to your Youtube Channel

I accept that this probably means I'm in a bad mood. I also accept that you can now see a link to my Flickr account so maybe I'n just offering click bate as well.

But I don't tend to start threads saying look at my stuff some where else

I kind of agree with this, and I'm also not interested in viewing videos elswehre.

In the OP's defense though, you can't embed or share videos directly on DPReview.

actually i clicked on the link and video opened up directly on top of the browser window, quite painless. aside from that - i don't know what the fuss is about. it's a public forum, OP wanted to share something with us... take it or leave it, why make an issue of it?

Well no crime has been committed or rules broken. But in the way the OP used freedom of speech to post a link to a video, I'm using mine to say that doesn't work for me. I'd much rather see the pictures and some text

Thank you for posting this video. It was helpful, specifically concerning the excitement of the moment leading to mistakes. So easy to do.

Thanks op, gave me some things to think about next time.

Good and simple video. Thank you.

Hi Nigel,

I found the video very informative and a great teaching lesion. It proves preparation, planning and patience really does pay off.

As for the negative replies here.... well you can't please everyone. Anyway some of use did get something out of your video so success there.

Thanks.

I have learned far more from my mistakes than from my successes.🙂
