 ∏   "Is it ART?" Thread 5/4 - UNTIL IT GETS FULL   ∏ 

I am Chinese, but I know less about Chinese boat building than you.

I think I may know more about acoustic and electric guitars than you, but that’s just my guess. And I may very well be wrong there too.
I can say, definitely, that you know a lot more about guitars and music in general, than I do !

I am the world's worst "Tin Ear" and although I enjoy the product of these instruments, I simply do not comprehend chords, and such.

I just deleted a long paragraph about the amazing efficiency of ancient Chinese shipping, but it was too esoteric, but something I find very interesting.

I am a great admirer of the ancient Chinese culture !

Thank you, Erik.

Yes, our current home is further south, with a bay between us and the Irish Sea.

When I first came to live here in Northern Ireland I rented a bungalow close to the mouth of Belfast Lough. One day I was talking with my neighbour when I saw a handsome ship turning out of the lough to run down the Irish Sea. I ran to get my camera and here's the result.

What's not to like?

When I stayed on the barge on the Seine with my daughter about 25 years ago, several others living there were buskers in Paris, so I got to - slightly - know some of them and - slightly - share their world.

Fascinating - one was an English lady who played violin like an angel - best violin I've ever heard, in live play!

So, I rather like buskers.

I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,
And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea's face, and a grey dawn breaking.

"Sea Fever"

Well, Trafford, we have the grey sea mist here all day today. It's called "The Haar".
