Yes, that's the correct memory card. Brand doesn't make that much difference - any SD (Secure Digital) card will work - Panasonic, Toshiba, Lexar, SanDisk, etc.

The battery takes no longer than 90 minutes to recharge (less time if it's not fully discharged). I'm not sure where in the U.K. you'd find a spare battery - I'll leave that answer for someone else.

I am waiting for a Panasonic DMC FZ2b to appear in the UK and am
told this month.. While I wait I want to get much needed

Also where will I get a spare battery.. what do I look for?

How long does it take to recharge?

Where will I get a tube to protect and use add on lenses..

All UK please:)

Yes indeed, that looks like a suitable memory card. At http://www.7dayshop.com you'd pay £37 for a 128MB card. Also there, they have an SD card reader for just under a tenner.

Not everyone is convinced they need a second battery given the performance they have achieved. They can probably be bought on web direct from Panasonic (can't get on web site at moment) or you can get an alternative manufacturer battery at circa £30 from http://www.eurobatteries.com . Maximum charge time is about 90 minutes but it's best to keep it topped up as far as possible.

Camera is supplied with a screw-on adaptor for accepting 55mm thread filters and the supplied clip-on lens hood. If you're an ebayer and very public spirited, you might care to bid for a linear polarizing filter (they're almost given away) to see if it works with the FZ1; then advise everyone here. I went with the circular as the safe option.

I noticed a while back http://www.jessops.com are doing a clearance on the 0.7x Canon WD55 wide angle adaptor (55mm thread lens designed for camcorder). Probably cr*p but you could buy an uglier paperweight for just under a tenner. A more serious consideration is the Olympus TCON-17 at about £90 from Jessop. But you might want the camera first to decide whether you really do need the extra reach.

Thanks, Norm. You beat me to it!

Frankly, I haven't bothered to get another battery, since I've never even come close to flattening one in a day. Wait and see if you need one, as they're not cheap.

As regards W/A converter, I wouldn't recommend one intended for a camcorder. I bought one years ago, and I was very disappointed with the quality even on the camcorder.

I typically take over 300 pictures on an afteernoon at the football. (upload around 80 per game see website) I wouldn't like to be on the last bit so i guess I will need a replacement Battery..90 mins is excellent as my current one for AAs takes about 8 hrs :)

I currently use an Oly 2100 UZ but it's on its last legs.. I wont part with it though.. I have 55mm stuff such as the B300 and some filters.. But it uses AA batteries and my memroy wont work..

Tut just realised I will need a different card reader :( thanks for that :)

Be watchful of using the b300. The 55mm female threads in the fz1/2 tube attachment begin somewhat lower than the edge of the tube. Consequently you do not get enough thread (perhaps a quarter turn) to securely hold the heavy b300/tcon17. One fix is to attach a 55mm uv filter first and then the b300. uv filters seem to have more male thread than the b300. Another solution is to remove the unwanted extra plastic (.5mm?) at the end of the tube. I did that and was able to get almost 2 complete turns with my tcon17. I also use a uv filter to protect the lens and get a good tight fit.

As for an extra battery, if you happen to have a dps9000 lithium rechargeable, it works very well with the fz1/2 using the same cable for the c2100.

Finally, the fz1/2 comes with a usb cabel for downloading photos from the camera though an sd card reader is certainly more convenient.

Sorry Bryan, hope you weren't writing a magnum opus at the same time as me (don't you just hate it when that happens...)

As regards the WD-55, I've seen a Canon G3 user (don't know how critical) who rates it as pretty good; some barrel distortion:
http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1010&message=5156588

Given that there could be a problem with vignetting with the FZ1, I guess the only sensible thing to do would be to add a step down ring and Canon G5 to the order...

Are you still interested in the TCON-17 or did those (near) disaster stories put you off? Pity the thing isn't a bit lighter or compact. Would be very interesting to see what effect the additional lens might have on the problem finding focus at infinity issue you've found.

Wonder who's in for a bashing tomorrow?

Anyway using the B300 for sports action isn't great.. You cant use it at close range.. so if you put the B300 on and then 2 seconds later the action is right under your nose its a pain... The fz2 might mean I dont need to use the B300:)

I have a FZ1 and a Linear Polarizing filter, it works fine!

Thanks, Norm.

I'm more interested at the moment in NeatImage. I took some low light shots recently to prove it can be done, but with auto ISO, I found quite a lot of noise. I downloaded NI, as you suggested, but it seems to have a hell of a learning curve. I have also downloaded the user guide, and will sit down with it over the weekend...

I may be back for your advice!
Thanks, Norm. You beat me to it!

One battery is sufficient for day excursions. However, all day trips to amusement parks and such sucks the life out of a battery. Especially using the flash for fill and editing the card as you go to save space. I bought my battery from adorama for $50 plus shipping.
