I aksed the guy to check other stores in Chicago area - there are comeras at other locations as well. Just give them the SKU...

I bought mine today in Houston, TX. Several Best Buy stores in the area seem to have a few.

but the coon rapids BB still has/had its full complement... (as of SUnday at closing anyway)...
This morning Ritz said early October, but then after hearing news from George, checked again and found out my order was ready to ship. Earlier this afternoon I had found out that Stockton and Pinole, California had some in stock. I have one being held right now in Stockton that I don't need now. Go there and ask for Dave since he was nice enough to put it aside for me. I call him and tell him I'm not getting it.
If you get the SKU, most guys are willing to enter into their system and tell you what stores have them. However, the info is only updated each morning.

I bought mine in College Station - a short drive from either Houston or Austin, and I'd be willing to bet Best Buy here hasn't sold the other two they had. We're not a, well, artistic/photographer type of town.

Just recieved an email from Canon Switzerland:
"Die EOS 300D wird voraussichtlich ab Anfang Oktober lieferbar sein."
which means translated:
The EOS 300D will be in stores from beginn of October. That's some real bad news for me, because where I pre-ordered my 300D it's saying that the 300D will avaiable at the end of October.

Best Buy in Springfield, VA
I went to the local Best Buy near Potomac Mills in Woodbridge, VA and the saleman Neil, told me they had 2 cameras. One for the display which he couldn't sell (and I wouldn't really want a display model), and one that he was holding for another customer.
I asked Niel if he could check the availability at other BB stores in the area. He hopped on his computer and pulled up a list of which stores had them and how many they had. Several stores only had 1 which they were keeping as their display models. The store in Reston Town Center had 3, a few of the locations in Maryland had 2 or 3 but I didn't feel like driving all that way. So then he called up to the Sprinfield, VA store and checked with them and they said they had 2 left. He got off the phone before I had a chance to ask him to get them to hold one for me.
So I thanks Neil for all his help and jumped into my car. Luckily despite it being rush hour, I was able to make it up to Springfield in about 10 minutes. Ran into the store and asked if they had any left. Lucky, behind the glass case they still had one unopened Digital Rebel. So I got my camera!!!
For those of you still looking to get yours in the northern VA, southern Maryland area, these are the stores I could remember. These numbers are as of about 5:30 PM last night.
Bowie, MD had 3 in stock
Reston, VA had 3 in stock
Anapaolis, MD had 2 in stock
Manassas, VA had 1 in stock
Hope this helps anyone still looking for a Best Buy that has the camera available.

The Winston-Salem, NC BB still claims ignorance as of this morning. The looked for them in G'boro and found three, so I took the 38 mile drive and got one. The weren't gonna put one on display so they'd have all three to sell. I got mine about 11:50 AM, so they still have two left.

Lucky one.... Switzerland (and probably the whole Europe) are waiting impatiently.
Yesterday, actually, but they're in stock at National Camera. Looks like stores got enough to cover their preorders plus a few extra. Feel much better about getting it at "the camera store" rather than Best Buy.
