Hi,

I'm new here. I just really need your help because my $5000 amount of gears are missing for two weeks and it's really horrible situation for a student. It's truly HUGE amount of money. I've saved for a long time to buy a camera but it was not enough. My sister who knew this also has saved money for me to give me a surprise gift for my graduation. And I feel like I lost all.

I placed orders on 9 April at B&H to take photographs of my reviews and coming thesis show of undergraduate program.

They were supposed to be delivered by 11th on Wednesday, and I was at home, waiting for the package which were required my direct signature.

I checked the tracking numbers around 10:30 and it says they were delivered at 9:03 am. And signed for by name HILL, which is not me.

I contacted both Fedex and B&H. Fedex said they need 2 business days to investigate. And B&H said, waiting for 5 business days to make a claim to Fedex. (??)

Because they sound so confident, I decided to wait for two days and it was the most stressful days. And I heard nothing from Fedex until Friday(13th) before I contacted them.

I talked to B&H on Thursday (12th) to and said "I have not received and signed for them, so I want to get refund or resending."

I got an email from B&H on 15th, which was asking me "If I get the items, And check my neighbors" which I have done on 11th!

I answered back and got an reply from b&H on 16th. And they were asking me file a police report.

And then, I shouldn't just wait until they recover their fault.

So I filed a police report, and send it to B&H on 17th.

And Got an email that they made a claim to Fedex on 17th. And they will contact me within 5 business days.

And today was the fifth day. I have not heard anything from B&H. So I contacted them. And they just said wait for few more days.

I asked "If B&H still won't have something to say to me after two days, thenwhat you can do for me?" and they said "We will see then."

I feel like I'm in a huge trouble.

I really really need your help, any advices, or comments. Thank you for your time.

Contact your credit card company immediately. No drama, just the facts.

It’s very very likely that everything will be fine. The shipment was insured and the shipper messed up. Call every day.

You should not have to file a police report because nothing was stolen from you. If you never received the camera, it could not have been stolen from you. The shipper made s big expensive mistake and they are responsible.

5k worth of gear!

These are the scenarios
  • B and H sent to the wrong address.
  • You put the wrong address for delivery
  • Courier delivered to the wrong address
  • Someone signed for the package at your address
Tough situation, people try to scam businesses all the time, so you need to expect the investigation to take time. Someone has the package so it is up to them to be honest about it.

A few weeks ago they sure did send my dry box to the wrong address. I noticed the tracking was going to LA and I am in FL.

It was their mistake and they rerouted it.

FedEx left it sitting behind my truck and did not get anyone to sign.

I caught their mistake and they made me wait on hold. :(

You're very right. Actually it was B&H who required police report to make a claim. But yeah the officer said exactly the same thing that Fedex screwed up and it's their responsibility.

1&2 cannot be possible because actually the lens came one day earlier and the delivery man rang my bell. I just could not answer because I was doing something at home and didn't expect the package which were supposed to come on the next day.

I don't know about the case of 3 & 4 but anyhow, I don't think that's my responsibility to figure out it. I've waited 2 weeks and I think I've been patient enough.

I appreciate your frustration and anxiety. Unfortunately from "M H" it is impossible for me to ID you or this transaction. I need the original B&H order number. You can email me at [email protected].

Apparently at least one, which is one too many, of course.

The shipper, B&H, made no mistake. They followed policy of requiring a signature.

The delivery driver reported someone signed for the package.

To the OP: Did you tell anyone you were expecting the package? Either the delivery driver is lying, or someone fraudulently signed for the package. That's why resolution from FedEx or B&H involves police investigation, not the least of which is to prove you are not making a false claim.

It's going to take time to sort it out, as no party involved wants to put out money if they are not at fault.

but now is the hard part. Proving it. Meanwhile the OP has to wait. Fedex cannot just write out 5k checks on someones word......

Sucks for you OP but just stay calm and work through the process

I sent the email. I am supposed to hear something by this Thursday, so I really hope the promise will be kept at this time. I really don't want to miss the chance to take pictures of my thesis show.
You sent an email to me? There's nothing in my in-box that resembles this situation in any way at all. I'm [email protected]. At the least, I need the original B&H order number to check this.

Technically, FedEx is the carrier. It's in fact a legally binding definition used to specify liability in cases like this. It's clearly stated on the shipping agreement. I've spent over a decade workimg in shipping and receiving, so I know what I'm talking about.

The guy meant the shipping company (shipper) FedEx made a mistake, not the seller B&H.

We know B&H didn't since there was a correct attempted delivery the day before.

Not arguing semantics with you, just explaining what the guy was saying... which was pretty clear.

Shouldn't be that hard to prove. The OP already said that FedEx tracking showed the package was signed for by someone who was not the addressee. Unless Hill lives at the same address they should not have handed it over. You can't give a "signature required" package to just anyone, just because they offer to sign for it.
