Hi !

I have asked this before in another topic, but haven't had any examples yet. I usually take pictures of motorcycle and car races, and my S 602 Z is going to be replaced soon. While I have tried a D60, cost for me is an issue, and before I could think about buying a 10D since I have a baby coming my way, the new 300D came out. So I am considering investing in one and a zoom lens. Could someone, if possible, please post photos taken with the 300D with a similar situation to outodoor action sports ? (I mean high shutter speeds, zoom lens, fast moving subject). Can anyone comment on AF accuracy for fast moving subjects ?

Thanks in advance for any help, and congratulations to new owners of the 300D.

Just bumping it up, because I haven't seen any examples of this type of pictures with the 300D.

the 10d works really well for this so I am confident the 300d will also be very good, the pictures will look fantastic given the right technique and high quality lens. One limitation may be the buffer size - its 9 in the 10D and something like 4 in the 300d. This means you will max out fairly quickly when you rapid fire shots (like holding down the shutter release) and will have to wait a few seconds for the write to complete before you take more pictures. So you may miss a few shots that you might have captured with a 10D.

But you could say the same in comparing the 10D to the 1D, 1D has a much bigger buffer than the 10D and I am sure a pro would say the 10D is not the best for sports or action photography. The difference is he is paid and must get the shot while getting a shot for me is nice only.

Here's some photos I shot Saturday night at the Mariner's game:

Shot using a Quantaray 75-300mm zoom I picked up on my way to the stadium. Most of these shots are at least a little "soft", probably due to my hands shaking, but I was pretty amazed that I could get any kind of shot, much less shots like these.

Most of these are at 800 or 1600 ISO.
