There’s something about a water scene that soothes the spirit. This challenge invites your photo of any body of water that moved you enough to capture it. It might be an ocean, lake, pond, tidal pool, puddle, birdbath, or any other type of standing water. It should be more or less at rest, so I am not looking for waterfalls, river rapids, falling drops, etc. as primary subjects. Entries will be judged on composition, execution, and impact. I'm looking forward to your "moving" images.

This challenge is now open and will end at 5pm PDT on Tuesday, April 24. I will announce the results shortly thereafter.

The standard rules apply:

1. Photos must have been taken by you but can be from any camera, including cell phones, and may have been taken at any time.
2. There are no restrictions on brand of equipment used, processing or the like - it's all good. It's the image that counts, not how it was created.
3. Please state in the header of your post, or in the comments bar below each image, whether they are "Entry" or "Exhibit". Non-labelled submissions will be assumed to be Exhibits.
4. Please post all images using the "Reply to thread" button below this first post.
5. At the end of this challenge, I will announce First, Second and Third places from the Entries and I might select some other entries or exhibits for Honorable Mentions.
The First Place winner earns the "privilege" of being the host of the next challenge and has 3 days to begin it. The winner can respond to the challenge setter with a forum post or PM. If that individual doesn't respond in 3 days, or has to decline to serve, the Second Place winner becomes the next host. If that individual declines to serve, the Third Place winner becomes the next host.

Examples will appear in the following post.

Very nice image of a peaceful scene! Strictly speaking, the tidal flat in the foreground fits the category, while the rolling surf does not. I'll take the foreground as the subject. Not trying to split hairs, just explaining the challenge for subsequent posts.

I stood on the footbridge over the canal for about 30 minutes just staring at the murky water and the built in 1603 Bridge of Sighs.

Harvey, the topic must bring plenty of good entries, 'cause I'd guess that's one of the favorite objects for photography for people here on DPR. But will see...

P.S. Nice examples!

I can understand standing there with or without a camera. Thanks!

Sturdy bridge. I can't quite imagine what it's like living that close to those canals.

Wow, the first one draws me right there! I take that as your entry. If you read the opening post carefully, you'll know that the other two attractive shots don't fit the theme.

Well, it is at rest.

Being unlabeled, I'll consider it to be an exhibit.

I'm quite taken by the first two, although I would prefer the highlights in the first one to be toned down a wee tad. I suspect that they have different histories, but have a similar "arty" feel that I find very attractive. How does a half-frame slide come about, merely cutting? Duck's nice too.

I'd say nope to the first one, it's rising and falling as opposed to standing. And yes to the second where it's not going anywhere yet. Got a close up of one of the drops?
