not easy to compare shooting stills, but there are plenty of comparisons with videoHow about someone post some pictures exemplifying / substantiating claims, instead of verbal dump.. it is photography related forum isn’t it..
IBIS is useful for both photos and videos. For photos it lets you use lower shutter speeds handheld. For video, I find that it can completely save handheld video. Will it make it cinema grade, sell-able footage? No, you need some other form of stabilization for that. But if you are just trying to snap a quick video on vacation, IBIS and or OSS can be clutch.yes, physical stabilizers are generally quite superior in their stabilization, the heft alone helps reduce jitters as well.Too many people are expecting Stabilizer quality (which is clearly bigger and a lot more stable due to mass alone) from IBIS, to tell you the truth. for me, IBIS is photo oriented, not video-stable oriented.Val 1I would have saved the money and bought the 6300 with a stabilizer. The 6500 sensor IBIS is pretty lackluster.
Thanks for your thoughts. I should have asked you before committing to a purchase. It never cease to be amazed that no matter how trivial the subject someone is always willing to step in, pull down their pants and pee all over the cake. Val nice to hear from you. Hopefully I can return the favor someday. I did some research before the purchase and frankly got a little bit of overload so maybe I missed complaints on the IBIS.
Cheers
But having IBIS + physical stabilizer will produce even smoother footage.
BUT, to tell you the real truth, IBIS is _definitely_ video oriented - which is why cell phones and go pro's are now incorporating it.
I have a Zhiyun Crane and love the results I get from it.. but there's no way I'm gunna take it with me when I go on vacations.
- and IBIS Is huge for those us shooting video with non-stabilized lenses as well.
I agree with the next lens choices. the 35mm is super useful, and the 50mm is very good and cheap, though as a portraits person I spent a fair bit more to go up to 85mm.You should also get a Smallrig camera cage, helps with heat, and more mounting options for mics, monitors and lights, i use tiffen uv filters and they DON'T degrade IQ, next lens should be the 35mm 1.8 and/or 50mm 1.8
I am headed to Italy for a couple a weeks in mid May. I will be doing my best to fill a hard drive while There. I will certainly post on my return. I honestly havent had time to do much with it at this point. This weekend if I have time I will get a pic or two.Joe
