Cute dog but I'm worried that the leash isn't substantial enough to handle such a beast.. ;-)

A couple of Exhibits from recent zoo visits which were intended (amongst other things) to test the ability of both us and our RX10’s to make photographs in the rain and survive the soaking (which the English weather duly delivered).

The first one features a young Amur Leopard at Maxwell Zoo, Hampshire, England. A real bundle of enthusiasm, joy and life, which made us smile (note hand print from last victim)...

The second one features a rather intent looking Egret at Paignton Zoo, Devon, England. We liked the 20’s style…

"Ten crows oops" indeed. I have a virtual feather! Well done abiquiuense.

Now you just need to let me know whether this is an exhibit or an entry. I will assume exhibit unless I hear to the contrary.

David

Very nice Phil, thank you. I have had the good fortune to see an Amur Leopard at a private sanctuary, beautiful animals......let us hope the numbers recover in the wild, there were apparently fewer than 60 left in 2015, the rarest big cat on the planet. Great photograph of the egret too.

David

Hi David,

Thank you, appreciated.

We're lucky to live near to Twycross Zoo, where the resident pair of Amur Leopards have produced four offspring over recent years (once matured, sent to other zoos), as you say, utterly beautiful.

The ones at Marwell Zoo (sorry, typo in my original post) are in a wonderful enclosure for viewing them. It was our first visit there, but it won't be the last...

I'm reminded of a funny incident during a summer holiday in the little village of Pompignan in the Gard region of southern France a few years ago. It was my job to get up early and walk down to the Bakers for breakfast bread and pastries , and every morning a dog sat patiently at the top of the steps leading up to the shop door. Having grown friendly with the baker we always chatted about this or that, so one morning I said: 'Je vois que votre chien de garde vous protège.'* Without hesitation the old boy quipped: 'Féroce.'*

The critter in question was a tiny Jack Russell pup. :-D

* Translations for Bill Borne...

'I see that your guard dog is protecting you.'

'Ferocious.' :-P

I should apologize not knowing the sensitivities of posters and my friends in here for my exhibit. I took a beating over in the other forums, with a host who doesn't allow political commentary, and posted this at first blush finding your subject convenient.

I knew she was going to do that and set the camera for continuous shooting. I'll post her in "nature photography," for a better debut.

Thank you David.

Ha Ha Ed.

There is a rough haired miniature Jack russell type here, it is a dear little thing, about knee high to a grasshopper. I discovered this morning that its name is Fang. I rather like that.

David

After waiting ages for a suitable challenge,I just had to put something in.These 3 were taken in 2016 and all are ENTRIES.

Fur

One of our cats (well why not?)

Feathers

Treecreeper (one-time desktop wallpaper)

Hope these suffice.

RJB, you will be pleased to know that they certainly suffice.

All three are great images, that cats eye close up is amazing. And I am not surprised that the treecreeper photograph ended up as your desktop wallpaper, it is a super image of the lovely little bird.

Well done and thank you.

David
