Our cul de sac regulars...Did you know that the color of turkey's heads change according to how excited they are? These are relaxed:

This one is excited:

I'd rather photograph an excited turkey with the red head. The light blue of the relaxed turkey always seems to be overexposed, if the rest of the turkey is properly exposed!

Isabel, that first one is a real beauty!

Aloha,

Val

The photo is great, but the best part - it is 13 years old and there are no signs of that in the photo!

Nick

Thank you Jerry. Great images all, entries and exhibits. I feel rather sorry for the subject in Entry 1 (Ha Ha) and Entry 3 reminds me of someone on a bad day.

Regards,
David

Jarrell. Fortunately I don't have to choose a favourite from those two because they are both simply lovely images. Great job and thank you.

Fur AND Feathers or Fur OR Feathers. Either is fine. A short description of the subject(s) would be appreciated.

Who knew it had those hairs above and beneath its beak?

The above are examples of the obvious. However you can be creative, there are many things which could fit this challenge.

The challenge is now open and will end at 1pm GMT Thursday 12th April. I will announce the results the following day.

I will endeavour to acknowledge all exhibits and entries; to facilitate this it would help if all entries and exhibits were posted as replies to this thread rather than as responses to others' posts within it. Thank you.

As I am in the UK please also bear in mind that my acknowledgements might not be immediate and next week there are a couple of days when I will not be on the internet much.

I really look forward to seeing your Fur and/or Feathers images.

PLEASE NOTE.

As I expect there might be a few entries I would like to introduce a MAXIMUM number of exhibits for this challenge, TWO only please. And, for this challenge, only entries will be considered for Honourable Mentions and Places.

**********************************************************************

Other than the above the general rules are the same as always...

1. Submit a maximum of 3 Entries to win and/or TWO Exhibits.

2. Photos must have been taken by you but can be from any camera, including cell phones, and may have been taken at any time.

3. There are no restrictions on processing or on composite shots - all are acceptable. It's the image that counts, not how it was produced.

4. Please state in the header of your post, or in the comments bar below each image, whether they are "Entry" or "Exhibit". Non-labelled submissions will be assumed to be Exhibits.

5. Please post all images using the "Reply to thread" button below this first post.

6. At the end of this challenge, I will announce First, Second and Third places from the Entries in a separate RESULTS thread and I may select some other entries for Honourable Mentions.

Grand Prize: The First Place winner becomes the host of the next challenge and has 3 days to begin it. The winner can respond to the challenge setter with a forum post or PM. If that individual doesn't respond in 3 days, or has to decline to serve, the Second Place winner becomes the next host. If that individual declines to serve, the Third Place winner becomes the next host.

7. To begin the next challenge it's easiest to cut and paste the text of this message into your new thread opener and modify it to suit your challenge.

******************************************************************

Have fun.

Regards,
David
