Eastern Screech owls are pretty docile by day. Sitting at their roost holes, not moving much and usually not paying much attention to people who stand thereto watch it. People are usually harmless and the owl knows it.

However, there are some neighbours of the owl that do not like the owl being there. Well, mostly because 'word' has gotten around that the innocent looking owl with the sleepy look on its face has eaten some of their friends and perhaps even family members.

Every chance the neighbours get to voice their displeasure with the owl, they make the most of it. The owl only knows that too well. When the neighbours come over for a 'visit', the owl does the only thing it knows to avoid any grief. It hides.

Composite series of photos taken with the 7D MK2. Thanks for looking.

Well-done! Thanks for sharing.

I often hear these little owls, in nearby large trees, and occasionally see them flying, or perched in the open, in the evening, but have not seen one roosting, as they hide so well.
