Hi,

Jim Kasson has developed a procedure for screening lenses described here:

I have done that test on my P45+ with the Distagon 60/3.5CF:

Extreme corners and at 30 mm.

Planar 100/3.5 CF

I think both lenses seem to be quite OK. What is your take?

Best regards

Erik

I think you have two well-assembled lenses. Are you OK with the corner astigmatism in the Planar? I would be. One axis falls off faster than the curves say it should, but it is radially symmetric. Both were wide open, I presume. Can I have the raws?

I din't provide distance curve for that size sensor. I'm assuming you used the 33x44mm curves and backed up a bit further?

Hi Jim,

I am quite happy. I actually feel the Distagon performs a bit better than expected.

Just a small anecdote. Pierre, who happens to be my best friend worked at Hasselblad for a few years. So, he actually built his own camera.

Working at Hasselblad, he had access to all lenses. So before he left Hasselblad he went trough all his slides/negatives and found that the Distagon 60/3.5 and the 120/5,6 macro were the lenses that yielded most great images for him.

I look at the MTF data before buying and that may give a certain bias.

Best regards

Erik

By the way, in my instructions, I'm pretty sure I suggest white balancing the center image, and applying that WB to all the others.

Checking... Yes, I do:

That will make it easier for you to compare lenses photographed in different circumstances, as long as those circumstances are consistent with the test instructions.
