Bidi man

for those that do not know what a Bidi is, it is the cigarette of the masses in India smoked by men and women. This is a candid of a worker on the Hotel construction next door

Shame about the angle of the sun and my shutter speed

Colour versions have the orange glow of the Bidi

Technical stuff aside, IMO this is excellent. It provokes questions of the PERSON, and the timing captured the direction of his gaze, the tension in his hands, a frozen moment of movement, and leaves open many questions and considerations.

Looks 1960s, or a photo for today.

Well, Technical Details, yes

. Often I think shooting candids of people is like shooting birds, very often little control on quality and direction of light, speed, or background

. These days I am more concerned about getting an image I want than getting everything right .

As it turned out I could have lowered the SS but I was worried he could move to interact with one of the other workmen.

It is somewhat recoverable but decided to go high contrast. Highlight recovery just seemed too obvious.
