For the help and friendly advice regarding lenses for this camera.

I have settled for now on the 50mm STM which has not left the camera since I received it.

I never thought I would be happy with a fixed focal length lens. How wrong I was, It has been a joy to use, coupled with the basic menu set of The 5D I have never enjoyed taking photo's as much.

I would recommend this set up to anyone that has an interest in trying full frame for the first time.

I would like to share a few pictures from last few weeks.

Thanks

Kev

Congrats to your classic 5D and 50mm STM plastic fantastic..This full frame setup is probably as close as you can get with a digital DSLR to the cult status of " Film Look "...

Here is a link for an excellent photo filter program, if you want to add more variety to the classic film look...the download and program is free of charge...one of the best IMO that I have used...btw, I really like that Corvette and the cute little dog...

Greetings

I can't say I was among those who "advised" you previously. Nonetheless, your images alone clearly imply that you know how to use the combination of the 5D and the 50mm STM to obtain excellent results. It's always nice to hear from soneone who's actually very pleased with his equipment selections.

nice job, Kev! reminds me when i purchased my 5D for the first time in 2006 and got addicted to it ;-) now go out and use the heck out of your 5D, post some nice shots as you have in your OP, if you care!

It has been a breath of fresh air, Enjoying taking photo's and learning about photography again rather than getting obsessed with gear. And yes it is addictive.

Heck with the camera, Kev...is that your 'Vette? :-) 50 is a terrific lens for your camera or any FF camera for that matter. Thanks for posting your images.

Thanks David

Wish it was. I was able to get about 6 shots as it rounded the corner. Every shot was pretty good. The camera and lens seems to hit focus spot on nearly all of the time.

Here's another

Thank you Peter

With all the latest gear being talked about in this forum (which I read with great interest). It is nice that so many people like yourself have taken the time to give encouragement and advice about my aging 5D.

Thanks

So glad you are enjoying your extremely underrated (and largely forgotten) 5D! I will use mine until the shutter craters, and then will likely try to find another 5D body to take it's place!

The 50mm/5D combo are very good. If you get a wide angle (like the 24mm f/2.8 EF), and the 85mm f/1.8 primes, you will have most of your focal lengths covered with small, easy to carry lenses!

Keep up the great shots! I have been enjoying seeing them!

For now i'm hooked on the 50 mm, and am amazed at it's versatility for such a diddy little plastic lens.

I have a 28-135 USM which was the first lens I purchased for experimenting with various focal lengths on my crabby 5D to see how useful various focal lengths would be to me. But i've only used it once as the 50mm is firmly stuck to the camera for now.

Kev
