Maybe you had the XT1 in a wrong AF setting because the XT1 is no slouch at taking still photos in dark scenes. Also, am I blind because I don't see any K1 ISO 12000 photos? :-)

Unfortunately, once you start writing a note, it isn't always easy to get out and check the details. "Did I post the ones with 12800 ISO or the ones at 6400 ISO?" I make a lot more mistakes than Zakaria does so I probably would have double checked everything -- and still missed some mistakes.

Maybe Zakaria will let us see the 12,800 ISO shots in a subsequent post. :-) These are good though. I especially like the smiling man with the shopping carts. How did you get him to smile like that Zakaria?

The man must simply have a really good sense of humor. Just look at his face, you can tell he is a happy man :-)

Actually, the look on his face made me wonder what Zakaria looks like. :-)

I understand. I've read about some famous street-photographers, even lurked on a DPReview forum that catered to street photographers, that is, was centered about the "best cameras for street photographers" and so a lot of street photography was posted there. You probably know the site.

I even once upon a time took up an Olympus E420 with a small lens and looked about my rural San Jacinto for likely subjects, but didn't find any. One must, I concluded, adjust one's photography to the milieu in which one finds oneself.

Your photo makes you seem more personable than I imagine myself to be, but it seems to me I was personable enough when I was working. Perhaps I have no reason to walk about being personable now because I have only my dogs to influence and they don't seem to care about that. But, in the way of explanation, I worked 39 years in the Missiles and space and aircraft industry & drove to work in cars or motorcycles in heavy traffic and decided that when I retired I wanted to get away from all that; so I have only myself to blame for not having heavy traffic round about to photograph.

But I enjoy seeing yours. :-)

Thank you for kind words and your time .

I learned from a pro photography specialized in nature and landscape that: there is no beautiful than faces. You can find the beauty behind the face expression but the natur can't do that.

.... of the OP's actual use of iso 12800 or not,

I have pushed the k1 on the odd occasion to 12800 at a wedding in decent enough light without being fully dark and even then the noise was that of a kind which was easily handled and did not drastically reduce the usability of the image for moderate printing.

The K1 handles noise very very well, and if the rumoured improvements arrive, it should be a phenomenal high iso camera.
