Excellent! B&W tones are wonderful. The lighting is great, especially the glint in the kitty's eye. I like the shallow depth of field too. And this a purrfect example of the decisive moment.

Full marks for the second photo, the one with the couple taking a selfie. The colours, pose and background are great, and make it a super photo. Captured the moment so well.

Terrific stuff Bob! Great idea the processing technique you chose to reduce colour and have a black inky look. My favourite is the one with the firemen and truck on the side!

That expanse of foreground just creates more drama and suspense of what's to come!

I have admired your photos since you showed up in the Nikon forum with a D3100. You were able to make that little camera sing.

Bob: I need the snow and rain, I'm much more motivated to get out in it than on a bright sunny day. But we have had our excesses - no promises, but I'll see what I can do.

Madhav: Nothing I show comes straight out of the camera. Since I'm not in control of the lighting I tend to try to compensate in post for an overall tonal balance (it's the control freak in me I suppose, but I do feel that making an exposure is only 1/2 of the task). And then there's the color. . . If REALLY interested in the OOC exposure vs. the finished product, let me know.

Gerald: Nice to see someone noticed! Yes, I've taken recently to stamping RAW with a C.Chrome style, then stamping again with another preset that greatly reduces Vibrance and ups Saturation a bit, as a starting point. I was torn, wanted to make these mono but like anything done often enough I sought something different, this felt like something in between. The reduced Vibrance helps somewhat with the mixed lighting on streets.

Ulrick: Bingo, C.Chrome it was, but as said above it's just a starting point.
