with the new kit lens . Let’s see if it can replace my A5000 series with 16-50. Having the hot shoe will be a plus along with Fuji jpegs . Just need to wait until March now lol.

.not much in the size difference.

I'm afraid that the difference in size IS quite large, actually. Camerasize often leads to underestimate size differences. I always handle cameras before buying and in my own experience, CS was often been misleading.

That beeing said, I'm sure that the new Fuji kit lens will provide you with better results than Sony's.

I suppose Fuji are just demonstrating how much space you actually need to do it properly.

... this new lens has got my interest.

I often take my camera with me when going for dinner, and this little lens ticks a lot of boxes for me for this purpose:
  • Small and light
  • 15mm wide is FAR more useful than 18mm
  • The close focussing ability - I really like that.
I can just picture what a nice combination it will make on an X-E3 or X-T20 for a very small and light travel kit.

add focus stacking in the xa5 with the close focus . The reason I’m taking a chance.

It is but that Sony lens is real garbage.
What is the point of good camera and sensor if the lens is this terrible ?

We will see how fuji lens will perform

I must be one of the lucky ones as I`ve got 2 good copies of the sony kit lens . Here`s hoping the Fuji one is good , especially at the wide end .

Hope this little beast will be available body only eventually-- looks like an excellent potential replacement for my X-M1 should that become necessary. The brown one is sort of cute.

I got plenty of good shots with the Sony 16-50mm when I had one. Its problems were overblown, especially among people whose gear was already vastly superior to their talent.

How many phase-detection autofocus points does XA-5 have?
I am not able to find such information in Fuji’s press release or specs sheet.

I am a little worried that Fuji limits its autofocus system below other 24MP models.

I do miss my XT10 and it is nice to see a top view of one the small bodies with a zoom lens that does not look hopelessly out of proportion. I really look forward to seeing what this camera does. They say this is a beginner's camera but I have been a beginner for the last 50 years so no problem. Looks a very neat thing.

The purists may not like the lens if it is not prime quality from end to end and corner to corner it but I think it will really sell.
