Just out of interest i tried to find global market share data. But there is no clear statistic. CIPA only gives us combined camera market data and statistics, like the BCN only show one specific market. (In this case Japan)
Luckily both Nikon and Olympus share the ILC unit numbers they shipped and expect to ship. This combined with the CIPA data let's us calculate the market share. Their fiscal years end on March 31 each year, and so i created this little overview:
I would love the extend this with data from other manufacturers. If you have links to financial reports of other manufacturers (with unit numbers) please share them. Maybe we can gather a complete picture together.
