Hi Everyone,

For my new A7Rii, are they any accessories that you'd recommend? Maybe an LCD protector screen for the evf?

If there is any accessories that has made shooting with this camera even better, I'd like to know.

Cheers

First piece of accessory I purchase for any camera ( besides my 1D and D3 series of course) is a vertical grip, it will make the camera so much more comfortable to operate. it 's especially important for tiny camera with tiny handgrip.

A L-bracket is the second piece must have accessory I will buy and I have it on all my camera from big camera like 1Dx to tiny camera like OMD EM10.

Hand strap is probably the third. I have it on every camera as well. i also always use the Black Rapid style strap instead of the neck strap that comes with the camera, to that is the most useless piece of accessory that comes with any camera.

Then there is batteries and charger, depends on the way you shoot, if you use the camera everywhere, you may want a few extra, for me, i use my a7R II camera for landscape only and it’s on tripod 99% of the time, so instead of carry bag full if batteries and keep on swaping in the middle of the night and risking moving my camera, i use external USB PowerBank, one big one can supply power to two or three camera at the same time and i can run the camera whole night when shooting time lapse and astro stuffs.so to me that’s a piece of essential accessory as well, those Sony batteries is pretty useless when you shooting at night in cold.

I used to use screen protector on my cameras, but stopped using those about 10 years ago from 5D MK II and D3 days, LOL.

Even if you don't invest in more batteries, get a really good charger. This one happens to be fast, small, with info about what's going on, and inexpensive.

Ben using rubber eye cups for 25 years and won't use any of my cameras without 1! I like that dark no outside light coming from my eyes, now I can see much better and so much better color and sharpness. I have purchased just about all of his products and really love his for the Sony A series and fits my Sony A9 and A7RIII. Check it out.

I just upgraded to the A7riii so I have 5 of these authentic Sony batteries I can sell for a good price. I also have a 2 battery charger dock and 1 dock charger for them. Message me if anyone wants them.

1. LCD screen protector

2. more batteries.

3. grip or my preference, a half case like the ones from Selens are cheap and really good. LIMs design and Gariz are also good but more $$$.

4. Peak design Slide Lite if you dont have a strap yet.

Yes LCD screen protector is a must on all Sony cameras. There is a coating that after time will rub off and leave your camera screen looking bad. I always from day one install a screen protector :)

I bought cheapo L-bracket, LCD protect screen from eBay. A wireless or wired remote controller is highly recommended for evening tripod photos.

A7r II comes with two OEM batteries. Should be enough for regular photos but you can buy another OEM or third-party ones. for long and have lenses attached, you have an option of vertical power grip (Sony or much cheaper third-party versions), grip extender etc.

The best accessory you can have is a good eye, it can turn the mundane into magic.

This charger is similar and slightly cheaper. Has micro USB so you can use longer cord, does not provide as much info, and charges at 600 rather 1000 ma. Which can be sort of an advantage, be cause you need a bigger USB output block to provide 2 amp.

States right on that product page that 2A USB adapter is recommended. I'd prefer to have the Nitecore as it shows voltage, current charge rate, temp, and mAh that's been put into the battery.
