Started to use the wi-Fi on my Fuji X's. Works fine although there is one problem . Lets say I connect, and use the app on my phone as a remote. Works fine, but when I want to switch into another mode, like browsing or downloading a photo to my Iphone, it disconnects forcing me to connect anew. It seems to occur in any mode I"m in--you need to reconnect before switching. Anyone having this problem and if so, is their a fix? Or perhaps I am doing something wrong.

Pain, isn’t it? I don’t know why it forces the disconnect but it does.

It’s just not a great app.

It works, but isn’t anything to write home about.

That’s normal, consistent behavior with this app......which is just insane.......I just can’t believe that would be that hard to correct.

Yes and no.

"Since I'm very, very smart and I have a very big button"...

You are pressing on the "wrong" button. Instead of switching module, press the ">" and you will be able to review the images without get out of the module and having to reconnect.

BTW1: downloading is only for the JPEGs. It doesn't download the raws. If you have raws it will convert the to jpegs and then download them to your phone. By default it resizes the image to 3 megabytes.

BTW2: there was a recent update, last month (I think) that improves the speed.

BTW3: I have set myself a function key button2 to the shortcut to the wireless, so it's not as painful...

This is an issue with Wi-Fi that seems Nikon solved with their newest Snapbridge software. I think that Fuji is on the road to do the same thing as the biggest thing to contribute to stability is that Snapbridge uses Bluetooth to make the connection.

Indeed--hitting what appears to be the "play" button on the bottom left of the remote screen seems to allow you to change mode from remote to view and download your image without the disconnect. -Not sure about shooting in raw and having the camera automatically convert to jpeg for viewing and transfer. Only way I can get it to work at all is to shoot i jpeg. Is there something that needs to be done? I'm getting what appear to be automatic disconnects. Also thank for the tip on setting a FN to wireless---avoids fiddling with the menu. Thanks for solving the problem!

  1. I shoot raw
  2. I don't download, just view/preview over an 8" samsung tab E
  3. The current version works (mostly). Your problem with the disconnect may be the distance. I thought that there were some limits of about 10ft + the condition of the battery

I can't even get photos from my X-T2 to my iPhone. The app disconnects every time I try.

Elfrogio,

I suspect you are using Android and not iOS. Android and iOS handle Wifi connections differently and the iOS version of the app definitely disconnects whenever you switch to a different function/module within the app. This is especially painful with iOS, because unlike Android, you can’t set WiFi priority. So with iOS you can’t make your Fuji camera’s Wifi take priority over your home WIFI which means when the app disconnects you have to go back into the phone’s settings menu and manually reconnect the WIFI. It’s a big pain.

You suspect right.

I started using Cascable for wifi connectivity to my camera and have never looked back. The free version is great and pro gives some extra functionality like being able to preview images larger before download, which is making me consider the purchase.

Thanks for the tip. I will give it a go.

If recollection serves, when viewing a RAF, pressing the Q button opens a dialog prompting you to select the type of JPEG conversion you'd like to make. You make your selection and the camera makes a JPEG duplicate of the RAF. It's a fairly quick process and extends your SD card space, since you don't have to shoot both RAF and JPEG with each exposure.
