Hi

Are these basically same cameras?

Changes are in size and that you can buy different lenses on the X-T2?

I am in a market for a easy to carry, take everywhere camera. Main prioirity is in image quality, recommendations?

Look at X-E3 which is a nice small camera which has the same image making as the X-T2

Check out the DPR side-by-side comparison tool (Main banner>Cameras>Side-by-side camera comparison). There are some differences that may be important to you (video, color filter array, frame rate, USB speed, card slots, etc).

In terms of image quality, yes.

But there are some key distinctions in other areas. Size, leaf shutter, ability to change lenses, hybrid optical-electronic viewfinder, are among the ones that pop to mind immediately. Also generally similar is the XPro2. Search for comparisons online that may give you more details that are relevant to you.

I'm surprised that no one has pointed out that the X100f is a fixed (and non-zoom) lens camera which offers a single focal length of 23mm - there are a couple of adapters to give wider and longer angles of view, but they aren't cheap. The X-T2 is an interchangeable lens camera with a range of lenses from very small to enormous, and a potential range of focal lengths from 10mm to 500mm (I think, from memory).

I think you'd be better off doing some basic research yourself, and once you have a better grasp of what Fuji has to offer, ask again on the Fuji X specialis forum here on DPR.

That would be because the OP said:
  • "Changes are in size and that you can buy different lenses on the X-T2?"
I also mentioned this in my response here ("...ability to change lenses...")

It appears that the OP is aware that that the X100F is a fixed-lens camera. :)

Whoops! Sorry to you and OP.

All my Nikon stuff is boxed up and ready to go for just that reason.

All my Nikon stuff is on the shelf...
...next to my Fuji stuff for just that reason. :)

I pick the one that works for the day. Full-frame Nikon for IQ; Fuji for portability. Sometimes both. :)

Shame that Nikon didn't make a better selection of DX lenses and hasn't made a mirrorless yet. But OP: I'd say either will be good. The X100F is overall more compact than an X-T2 + equivalent lens--but you can remove the lens while carrying.

These are all with each system's equivalent 35mm lenses attached. The Nikon doesn't offer a similar lens, so no lens is attached--but you can imagine what you already carry... :)

Yes, tough decision but i'm getting about 5000€ from my present Nikon gear. If all should be used on X-T2 and lenses, what would you buy?
My most commonly used lens on my XPro2 is the Fuji 23mm F/1.4. Next is probably an adapted, manual FF 40mm F/2 + reducer (close to about 30mm on a native lens maybe?).

I also use the 90mm F/2 for portraits or sports, though it's significantly larger. If I need even more portable portraits, I switch to carrying my micro-four-thirds Panasonic GM1 + 42.5mm F/1.7 lens--which fits in my pocket with the lens detached.

I'm looking for a compact ultra-wide as well...something like the Zeiss 12mm, but I'd want something smaller, even if F/4. I may look at adapting a compact Leica for this.

Unfortunately, image quality has an inverse relationship to portability--better image quality means a larger system.

For reference, here are your native Fuji options:

You should tell us which lenses, which body and which adaptor, because adaptors that AF properly are not easy to source.
