Who has switched from 10D to SD9, and why?

I have a 10D and have been very impressed by the Sigma images. The thought of buying an SD9 has crossed my mind!

When I first made my decision I tried all available (was the D60 at that time but it is virtually same output quality) other DSLRs (Nikon, Canon, Fuji) and had no hesitation on going for the SD9 - I would do the same again today.

Two visitors here on workshops, owners of the D60 and D10 (or is that 10D) have since swapped for the SD9 after comparing results on same subjects "in the field". A few others have swapped from the Fuji S2 and Nikon D100 models for same reason.

Hope that helps in some way

Can I suggest for more info you visit http://www.sd9.org website on matters SD9 orientated. Many samples on pBASE too - and of full image files, not small ones per most other galleries from other DSLR users.

It isn't that the Canons are not good cameras but if you are looking for the sort of high detailed quality the SD9 can produce, you know what to do. It is unique in its field.

I am a 10D user. I havent switched and not going to. But I am going to pickup a SD9 as a second body. I think the SD9 will complete my outfit and will excel at macro shots. Both cameras can do there own thing.

I ordered my SD9 today! Will be here in a day or so. I cant wait to start shooting!! :) I still have my 10D and all the "L" glass, it will be up for sale soon at the local camera shop. I have never been happy with it since I got the first body, massive problems and TONS of blurry photos!!

I bought a 10D - very disappointed with the focus issue - the images were worse than my old Nikon 990. Sent it back to Canon, waited two weeks +, then it was no better. Took it back to camera shop and swapped for SD9. No regrets.

I have both a 10D and SD9 and still have my original D30 (from March 2001). I have never had any problems with the 10D, the focus is perfect, and the color is fine. I got the SD9 just for something different and to see what all the fuss was about, it is an OK camera. I use it mostly for controlled shooting, macro and product shots.

To be quite frank and honest I much prefer using the 10D or D30 for everyday general photography and in my prints up to A3 there is no noticeable difference in output between any of the cameras. In fact I must have a very good D30 because for A4 size it can outperform both the 10D and SD9 in terms of color and prints that just look good.

I will keep using the SD9 because there are times that I can see some small difference, however the SD9 is nowhere near perfect and we should acknowledge its shortcomings and try to overcome them.

Unfortunately, I think there is too much demeaning of other cameras in this forum, it has almost become a religion!!!! If any of you have actually used a 1Ds (I have) you would know better than to compare it with the SD9!!! There are some people here that remind me of the zealots that used to inhabit the Oly SLR forum in the early E-10 days, when nobody could say a word against that camera.

Bottom line, there are no bad DSLR’s (unless you have one that is faulty), only bad users. Sorry if that upsets anybody :-))
