TG-5 vs TG-4 image quality?

When I compare the TG-4 picture against other cameras of a similar sensor size in the DP studio comparison tool, the TG-4 fares poorly with much worse contrast and sharpness. Is the TG-5 better in this regard or is the reduction of image quality the norm for these type of cameras due to waterproof lens design? Based on Youtube samples, I thought the TG-5 4K video was pretty decent.

Yes. TG5 and TG4 lenses are the same, but the TG5 sensor has fewer megapixels and much less noise. Most WP cameras have porr lenses, and the TG is only a bit better.

You can visit the still-life studio shots at imaging-resoruce.com and compare similar ISO images side-by-side.

True, and it's nice to take screen grabs from a 4K video.

The IQ between the 2 cameras would be hard to discern. The TG5 works well for snorkelling as shown below.
