Hey Guys,
Thought I would start this thread so people could post some of their out-takes.
Here are some of mine...

I'll post a few of mine later from home...

What great interesting rust colors -- not at all what you ordinarily expect (all that lichen color and whatnot). I really like the composition on this one, Cliff.

Nice shots.

Your last photo reminded me of the, still operating, Valle Crucis, North Carolina, Post Office.

Yes, that's it, behind the snack foods, toys, tourist pamphlets, newspapers, and under the hanging fan belts. By the way, they were having a 20% off toy sale. I didn't use any of the postal services; but, my 11 year old bought some funnel cake mix, and my 12 year old bought 3 pounds of assorted candies. I got an ice cream cone, and listened to a blue grass band on the back porch. It was the best tasting post office that I have ever visited.

Yikes! That's a big bag of candy... I hope it wasn't all gone in a single sitting! Sounds like a real down home sorta place you found.

My pic was of the student mailboxes at my old school. I went to a FileMaker Pro DevCon in Phoenix a few weeks ago, and on the Sunday I arrived, I took a drive north to my old private school, called The Orme School, up near Mayer, AZ. It's located on a 44,000 acre ranch in the middle of a lot of desert scrub. A ghodforsaken place...

The smokestack is over near the town of Mayer (8 miles away), the old Dodge truck was sitting out in a ditch near the school, the gas pump is right next to one of the girls' dorms on the school campus and the mailboxes are located on the back side of the Old Main house near the front of the school. Quite a good spot for some pics of old worn out stuff you might say... I wouldn't recommend staying for five years, however (that's how long I was there...).

This is the one I first entered, but replaced, as I thought it looked just too unreal. It's a composite of the old church tower at Colchester Zoo and a red sky that I photographed from my back door.

This is another in the series I took of aged plants.

I LOOVE the old Batmobile shot! That's great. (Is this from your
collection?...).
Thanks Shudder,

I was really torn between submitting the batmobile or the convervse shot. The batmobile is sorta from my collection... I'm part owner with my son. I always wanted one of these when I was a kid, when they were in a lot better condition than this one. I still think its a cool toy though, paint chips n all.

Great shot Cassandra.... That grasshopper looks like he is trying to get every last drop of life out of that poor little flower.

I keep slipping in rank every challenge - Did I pick the wrong
image to submit or was I way off base to begin with - Help!
Hi Chris,

Your pic was actually in my top ten. I thought it worked well against the black background, and really the composition. I don't think you picked the wrong image (30 out of 121 aint bad). I just think that there was sooo many good pics and only ten to choose that it was difficult for people to choose.

Haydn

It is a striking image but youre right, there is something not quite right with the lighting.

Hi Mike,
I love this shot... very unusual and would make a nice art print.
What the heck is it?
Yes! Me, too. I meant to comment on it earlier and failed to do so, by Haydn's comment brought me back. The dots are just excellent on this rusty old thing (whatever it is -- doesn't really matter as it is about the rust and the light now, isn't it?...).

That's an excellent pic, Mike. I woulda rated it high, I think.

best,
shudder
