I have a Canon 10D and have shots taken with the AdobeRGB profile set in the parameters menu area.

When I open a file with PS6.0, how/where/when do I save or convert a file from the AdobeRGB profile to the Fuji Frontier (icc) profile?

I have the fuji frontier.icc file, which PS6.0 folder do I copy it to?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Why would you want to do that? You should image edit the images in Adobe RGB the same profile as your camera

Yes, I do this with Adobe RGB. After I edit my image and save, how do I get the image ready for print? Why do Adorama, printroom.com & FujiFrontier (at my local WalMart) offer color profiles (.icc)? I thought I needed to match/convert color profiles to that of the printer I plan to use.

First off, the Frontier supposedly uses the sRGB color space, so you would want to either shoot the pics in sRGB or convert to sRGB in PS. Make all your corrections such as cropping, gamma, etc., including sizing the image to 300dpi at the size you will have them print.

Then, as a last step, change the image to your profile by going to Image > Mode > Convert to Profile. It may look weird on the monitor, but hopefully your profile fits the Frontier and the resulting prints will look like the original image.

For complete instructions, go to this site:

http://www.drycreekphoto.com/

They have graciously made profiles for a bunch of Frontiers and the site has excellent instructions.

Hope this helps,

I forgot to mention that you want to save your image before applying the profile, then save the converted pic to a different name. I usually just add the size at the end, i.e., 00047 becomes 00047_4x6. Then, when you go to the kiosk, it is super easy to set up your print order if there are different sizes being printed.

I also save ready to print images to a different folder such as: \Frontier

Since I'm fairly new to digital processing, it takes time to sort out all the ideas. Following the advice of one professional I set my RGB in Photoshop to Adobe RGB (1998).

Now I'm going to have to check out whether one really needs sRGB if one is using a commercial lab that has Fuji Frontier printers.

By the way, According to Popular Photography you can download icc profiles from their web site: http://www:PopPhoto.com

That's where I downloaded the FujiFrontier ICC profile. I was looking for someone to chime in with regards to the workflow. Based on what I've picked up here and there, I assume the workflow to be per the following:

1) take digital image with color profile assigned Adobe RGB
2) download file & open file with PS and assign / color manage file as Adobe RGB
3) edit image as needed & save

4) duplicate image with PS / size & crop / assign-convert image to FujiFrontier ICC
5) save file under different name
6) print file at FujiFrontier lab

After you convert it to the new profile and are ready to save you need to uncheck the 'ICC Profile' box on the save window for 2 reasons...1) you already converted it to the target ICC and, 2) most printers don't like the included profile and could spit it out requiring manual intervention by the lab tech(which doesn't necessarily mean much at wal-mart) and then you don't what you will get

Hope this helps....Bob
