Interested to know how far people have bought into the idea of having multiple dp cameras. The sensor type is not of interest, more the number of cameras of different types. SLR/sd don't count!

So if you have different generations of dp2 - which seems to be quite common- that's just dp2 only in this poll!

thanks! James

You didn't include "none," which fits me since I can't see the rear screen without reading glasses.

You can not have different generations of "dp2". A dp2 camera is only a Quattro.

Based on that, I decline to vote.

A DP0 is only a Quattro.
Nope. A dp0 is a Quattro. A DP0 does not exist.
A DP1 and 2 can be all three generations (DP3 is either Merrill or Quattro).
I must be on a different planet!

All Sigma's Quattro model designations start with lower case letters (thanks, Sigma). Only this Forum insists wrongly on retaining upper-case letters for Quattro cameras.

I'm complaining because this is a Poll with incorrect model numbers in it, in spite of what common usage here implies.

Mike, if you personally want to say "DP2 Merrill" and "DP2 Quattro", so be it.

Ted, I stand corrected....I assume you have all of them anyway! I hadn't spotted that, I'm a newbie to Sigma cameras so forgive my enthusiasm.

All - if you are like Ted and dp2 is different to DP2 please vote in lower case ;-) The intent was to get an idea what dp users (and DP users) have, if you're prepared to share.. ( I am of course glossing over the fact that some camera lenses weren't available in earlier generations of sensors, and I daresay that each generation of camera doesn't have exactly matching focal lengths/field of view etc. )

It is interesting to see which are the most popular.

thanks for your vote!

James
Thanks James,

Still wasn't able to vote, sorry, because I have two "dp2"s but different models - no vote available for that.

If it's of any help, I have a DP2s and a DP2 Merrill.

FYI, Sigma's current Compact offerings:

https://www.sigmaphoto.com/cameras/compact

Pre-Merrill models are not mentioned there, though.

Nor can I ... but I still have one.. and a Matin LCD viewfinder which is excellent and travels with the camera. Without this, the camera would indeed be useless in some situations. Hangs round your neck and when you need it, apply it to the back and hold in place with your eye/face. You can tie it on if you want a permanent fit. It is a low magnification and adjustable so you don't need to wear glasses.

Seems the example I have is optically good and well made. This is on a Quattro so I don't know how well it would work on earlier cameras, if they are ~3in LCD screens it likely will. It is rubber coated all over- so is not going to scratch the back or the camera.. and much, much cheaper than an optical finder or the Sigma equivalent. No excuse not to add one or indeed many of these cameras to your collection :-D

go for it!

DP1M and DP2M. Would love a DP2M-like full frame "compact". Even if it was still significantly bigger, I'd still prefer it to anything interchangeable-lens as the latter would (laws of physics / optics):

- surely be still bigger than anything non-interchangeable with the same sensor size

- unlikely to be able to produce the same IQ as a properly fine-tuned non-interchangeable, the best example being all the DP Merrils and Quattros (except for the somewhat weaker DP1M).

I'd like to see a new DP2 Merrill with a full-frame sensor too . . . even if for not other reason than it would mean we would finally see Sigma make a full-frame camera with a Foveon sensor. Hopefully it would be followed by an SD Merrill F with the same sensor.

;)

DP1, DP1x, DP2 Merrill, DP3 Merrill, dp2 quattro.

I mainly use the Merrills.

I have the DPQ0, DPQ2 and DPQ3 (with telephoto adapter). While on my recent one-month trip to France, I occasionally wish I'd had a DPQ1 as well! I have owned (and still own, unfortunately) many cameras, but the DPQ's are by far my favorites -- for the quality of large prints they enable me to make.

But it adds so much bulk you might as well go with the SDQ.

Interesting, although I like the camera, the dp1Q doesn't seem to have quite that edge to edge sharpness from the lens that the other dpQuattros have - but that's evident in the lens tests from Sigma as well, it just isn't as good as the others. I like the field of view though... . Shame Sigma didn't spend the cash on giving it as good a lens as the rest of the range. There seems to be a bias at the moment towards dp3 over dp2 in the results, maybe give it some more time for votes to come in....

James

dp0, dp2, and dp3 Quattros for me! And love all three! (dp1 seemed a bit redundant, esp after the release of the dp0).

While I have that same setup, I don't miss the 28mm equiv much. If I want that, I just crop to that equiv. from my dp0 Quattro. dp1 seems like an outlier in that lineup.
